No doubt that illegal immigration is a huge problem compounded by those who hire and pay them illegally. Our soft enforcement of and poorly administered immigration law serve only to encourage it.
Even so, I believe open borders for travel and free trade is a possibility. It's already happening in the EU and even though there are some economically challenged countries I have seen nothing regarding the wealthier countries being overrun with illegal migrants from the poorer countries.
I'm not really concerned about America losing its culture. Our culture is about as diverse as they come and I think it's one of our greatest strengths.
I don't think I've ever been in denial about things but can see where some may view the world through rose colored glasses. I know we have made some poor choices lately and I know that left unchecked there are those who would use and have used power to their own advantage but there's a point where to be fair one must look at these things from all sides. Usually, the truth is somewhere in the middle.
I have seen conspirace theories on every President since Reagan and I'm just at a point where I look at most of the publishers as much more creative than they should be. I will admit they are thought provoking and they are good at using at least portions of real events but when delved into their stories don't really add up to fact.
I'm just curious as to why it seems we are so apt to believe the absolute worst scenario(s).
Even if there's any truth to some of the allegations I personally don't see the problem with an open borders scenario. They are at least close to that within the EU. A simple flash of an EU passport will get you immediately through borders, customs, etc.. I don't think there's been an evil overthrow of any of those countries or a loss of their state's rights. There have been bumps in the road but they have grown economically stronger and better able to compete in the global market.
I will be glad to see the end of the Bush era. Not so much because of anyone's belief or disbelief of all of these conspiracy theories. Rather, maybe once he's out of office we can get on to something a little more meaningful. Alas, history shows nothing will really change except the names of the accused or highlighted. These same things have been being written since people discovered the internet and those in power, regardless of party are always the targets. Anyone see a trend here?
Good question, The Palestinian people like any others in the world are basically good and deserving of assistance.
Unfortunately, the world to include their Muslim brothers are using them as fodder for their conflict(s) with Israel. Combine that with the corruption of past leaders, influence of other countries, terrorists groups, poor support from the west and the ignorance or failure to recognize what's happening by both the Palestinians and Israelies and no amount of financial help or intervention will ever solve the problem.
I hate to say sit and do nothing but I see no action completed to date make any real difference. Nothing will change until the people there come to a unified conclusion and act.
