RE: Malta bound

Paceville during the summer tourists season is packed. Most of the patrons are very young, somewhat wild and many have not yet learned that drinking too much isn't a good thing. It's like spring break on steroids. Fun for some but I stay away from there on the weekends. I guess I'm getting to be like my parents. laugh

Seriously, even though it's wild and crazy, the bouncers and cops keep things under control and I don't recall any serious incident over there. Heck, you may enjoy it so it's worth a look if you guys visit.

RE: Malta bound

Just keep them away from Paceville and all will be well.. laugh

RE: Malta bound

I've never seen any violence in Sliema laugh

RE: Malta bound

Hi JLB,

Sliema is a nice place and there are lots of places to eat, things to do, etc.. We work for the same company so I'll see you in the office and am happy to help with anything you need.

RE: This is What Has Me So Upset Today.....And The Fact That It Won't Change!!!!!!

I hope there is an public inquiry into this case. Perhaps that, an independent autopsy and some witnesses if there are any will bring closure to this.

At the moment everything is pretty murky and it's impossible to really determine who's right and who's wrong in this.

RE: IS BARBARA STREISAND THE GREATEST WHITE FEMALE SINGER THAT EVER LIVED ?

Yes but you have to admit she has a really big set of nostrils. laugh I know you were thinking I was going to say something else.. laugh

RE: IS BARBARA STREISAND THE GREATEST WHITE FEMALE SINGER THAT EVER LIVED ?

It took you 18 minutes to catch that??? hahaha

In keeping with the thread, I've always thought Barbara had a great voice. Maybe not the best but great

RE: IS BARBARA STREISAND THE GREATEST WHITE FEMALE SINGER THAT EVER LIVED ?

When I was a young lad I was forced to endure the early morning (everyday) airing of the PTL club. She would sing errr screach at least once per show and one was almost always guaranteed the display of crying followed by a mascarra melt down. A warped source of entertainment forced upon me from the Bible belt of my parents livingroom.. laugh

On a serious note - Despite the alleged financial and other immoral transgressions by her, Jimmy and her other associates, I believe she started out with good intentions and simply got lost along the way. I hope she rests in peace.

RE: IS BARBARA STREISAND THE GREATEST WHITE FEMALE SINGER THAT EVER LIVED ?

I think Tammy Faye Baker was probably the best ever (In a cat skreech kinda way). applause laugh

RE: Isn't this the F###ing TRUTH

The only problem with this is that the very ones it's aimed at probably can't comprehend it... laugh

I'm sorry if I bruised anyone's self esteem... laugh

Would you work in Afghanistan or Iraq & why or why not

Depends on the agency. I wont work with KBR but there are some worthy NGOs. I'll be doing more project oversight of local contractors. I would hope they wouldn't have me actually build something.laugh I'm not concerned about the money so much as I am about the job but still, the money is more than fair as are the benefits

RE: its not about politics

You do the same - good discussing this with you

Would you work in Afghanistan or Iraq & why or why not

Thanks Conrad... cheers

Would you work in Afghanistan or Iraq & why or why not

I had forgotten that... laugh It's the same in Alabama where they call it the war of northern aggression.. laugh Most are joking, some not...

RE: its not about politics

I understand and appreciate your comments. The whole jist of my post was that as horrible as it is, there is a time when one has no other choice. These wars, conflicts or whatever they are being called and all such things in the past are each debatable on their value or whether they are right or wrong. My only point being that there is a time when violence is justified just as there is a time when it's not.

RE: It Is The Soldier Who Gives Us Our Freedoms

I'm sorry for your loss...

Would you work in Afghanistan or Iraq & why or why not

And I thought at least that war was over... rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

I really do miss that area though. Lots of good friends in Hampton, Va. Beach and still have a old friend in Richmond

RE: It Is The Soldier Who Gives Us Our Freedoms

I believe you're spot on with that comment. He's only telling people that which they wish to hear. Just like most other politicians

RE: its not about politics

I never stated they were doing a great job in those places. You asked for an example and I gave you one. If you disagree that's fine.

RE: its not about politics

I don't approve of violence but it's sometimes necessary. I guess if you want an example you can simply look at the many genocides that have taken place over the years.

I believe there's an appropriate time to turn the other cheek but there's also a time to fight and unfortunately during those times people die and sometimes they are the innocent. This is not good but the alternative is worse. If someone wants to kill you, you have a choice. Die or defend yourself.

RE: It Is The Soldier Who Gives Us Our Freedoms

That was a very well thought out and well stated post

Would you work in Afghanistan or Iraq & why or why not

I can always count on your humor... laugh Nice to see you Conrad

Would you work in Afghanistan or Iraq & why or why not

Hey Tom, Thanks for your comments. I have been in touch with several people in the provinces of Afghanistan. Some of the working conditions are limited by the situation on the ground and access is extreemly limited. These are the areas I am interested in as there is a high degree of security and safety awareness. Other places are much more permissive, these seem to be tragedy in the making and I will avoid these.

Yes, I have 28 years in and retire really soon. I was really lucky in that I had a grizzly old Sergeant advise me to start saving early in my career so money really isn't an issue. I could effectively retire for good but mentally speaking, I can't.

I believe there's a lot of good going on there now and they definately need the help over there.

I don't really buy a big change in the political situation. Obama may say one thing but in reality, I don't see much of a change for the next 5 - 10 years. I like Powells stance on this "If we break it we buy it" and regardless of political affiliation, we did break it and we owe it to them to make it livable. The democracy thing is entirely different. Nonetheless, if security goes away this young man will be going away as well. I have no interest in becoming a statistic.

Anyway, thanks for your thoughts on this.

Hey Dennis, I'll let you know how it goes. How are things in Richmond? It's been awhile since I was up that direction. Used to live in Hampton and would get to Richmond once in awhile. Great city..

RE: Rights and Options vs. No Choice

Very well stated thumbs up

Would you work in Afghanistan or Iraq & why or why not

Thanks Dennis. It's been awhile since I started this thread and I have decided. My decision goes against the advice of the poll but I appreciate everyone's comments none the less. It's just something I feel I must do.
