RE: Single parenting for Men ??

There are some really good welfare programs available to low income families. I don't think they assist single parent families differently than they do 2 parent families. I believe but am not certain they give assistance based on family size i.e. the larger the family the more food vouchers, money, etc..

RE: Free Atlast !!! will President O.bama provide Free health care Free Atlast

Obama never promised free health care. He promises affordable health care insurance.

“We now face an opportunity — and an obligation — to turn the page on the failed politics of yesterday's health care debates… My plan begins by covering every American. If you already have health insurance, the only thing that will change for you under this plan is the amount of money you will spend on premiums. That will be less. If you are one of the 45 million Americans who don't have health insurance, you will have it after this plan becomes law. No one will be turned away because of a preexisting condition or illness.”

Great plan but I wonder where the money's coming from?

RE: Single parenting for Men ??

When I was 19 I became a single parent. At the time my son was 6 months old. Two kids living in the same house.

It was difficult for a number of reasons. Money was really tight, I didn't have any family near by and we went without a lot of things but at the same time I had some damn good friends who helped and it turned out to be one of the best periods of my life.

It probably wasn't the best way for him to start out but it worked OK.

You're close, Defense Condition

RE: Trading

So, what you're saying is there are some rich, sick people in this world.. laugh

Seriously, that's a good point. I guess those with medical training are as corruptable as any others. Sad thought...

RE: GUN CONTROL: Just a thought looking for oppinions

Manolito,

I understand what you're saying, I really do but what you may be missing is that those people you refer to as shooting other people are criminals.

I honestly can't remember the last time I heard about an average guy or gal pulling out a hand gun in anger and killing someone with the exception of the ocassional murder-suicide scenario. I'm sure it happens but not often.

What does happen very often is an armed criminal accidently or on purpose kills someone during a robbery, home intrusion, etc... Then there's gang bangers and drug dealers shooting each other which we always hear about.

You acknowledge that all criminals will all have guns. Does it make sense to take away the rights of law abiding citizens to maintain an equal footing? To me it doesn't and I don't believe the size or length of the gun would matter a whole lot.

(Isn't that just like a man to say size doesn't matter) laugh

Seriously, banning handguns for those who already obey the law will result in only criminals having them. There's also the issue of the right to bear arms which has been discussed here several times.

RE: Trading

Could be organ harvesting but I think it would be some weird cult rather than using them for organ transplants. I think that would take a great deal of skill to properly harvest and maintain for transport and transplant.

Whatever the deal is, there are some sick people in this world.

RE: GUN CONTROL: Just a thought looking for oppinions

I don't have a problem with people owning or carrying handguns as long as they are owned and carried legally. I keep mine handy around the house but rarely have carried them outside unless I was going to the range.

I don't thing they should be banned because they are easier to conceal.

RE: 70s Sitcoms

Yeah, used to be family night TV watching Happy Days and Lavern & Shirley on Tuesday evenings..

RE: is african proplem food or education

I think the biggest problems are corruption & lack of education. then there's the pesky little problems of starvation/hunger, HIV/AIDS, war, ethnic cleansing (sounds so much more politically correct and sanitary than saying genocide), and many many more problems.

I believe immediate attention to the first two would help to eliminate or at least ease the others. JMO

What an idiot... I think the wrong person died proving Darwin right

RE: What's the SCARIEST car you've ever driven?

The scariest without a doubt was my 1976 AMC Gremlin. I lived up to its name. It was a job keeping that thing going in a straight line and it always died at the most inconvenient places. It was also ugly as sin.

RE: o'bama o'bama o'bama o'bama

My thoughts are Obama thinks for himself. He said he disagreed with the pastor many times. That pastor married him and christened his children. I believe he has the right to choose what chuch he wants to attend. I guess he realizes that you can agree to disagree and think for yourself. Those were Rev Wrights views not Obama's. I think he has the right to attend whatever chuch he chooses. Atleast he is able to give rational answers and has the confidence that most Americans do think rationally and didn't say that he was compelled to attend that church because God told him personally to attend.[/quote

We're not talking about Bush, we're talking about Obama.

Sure he thinks for himself and certainly he can attend any church he wants. But he's also going to be held accountable for his decisions. He can agree to disagree with some comments made by Rev Wright after those comments were made public and have people accept that but how does he get past the overall divisive rhetoric of the church's mission statement?

RE: What do you think... to harsh?

Well, you don't look desperate and I don't know what wealthy looks like but if you ever get wealthy or desperate give me a call. laugh

Seriously, your reply sounded fine to me.

RE: o'bama o'bama o'bama o'bama

I think I knocked his judgement and integrity for associating himself with Rev Wright for over 20 years and then acting as though he's blind to the crap being preached in that church. Maybe, he doesn't see it that way which would eliminate the integrity issue but would bring up an even more disturbing one

RE: o'bama o'bama o'bama o'bama

Politics are a nasty business..

It is true that McCain spoke out against the Swift Boat Group and in my opinion, rightfully so. Most of the members of that group had served with Kerry very little or not at all. Most of Kerry's actual crew supported him during the election. There wasn't much seen on that. That wasn't right. At the same time, we had CSB news and Dan Rather knowingly put forth false military records about President Bush, that wasn't right either. It's an ugly business.

Having said that, I would have to give McCain Kudos for having the stones to come forward and condemn the swift boat issue. To me that shows good judgement and fairness as well as a willingness to put himself in hot water with his own party.

You may not agree with the policies of President Bush. Heck, you may even dislike the man personally but he's still the President and McCain would be an idiot to not accept his endorcement. To me, this again shows good judgement. This doesn't mean he accepts everything GB stands for nor does it erase the fact there has been harsh words and differences in the past. It tells me that McCain believes that those policies are correct or at least some of them are and he's stated as much long before he ever received Bush's endorsement

If McCain had indeed compromised himself to get where he is today he wouldn't be so alienated by those from the far right. If we're going to knock him then let's knock him on the issues rather than his integrity. That's accomplishing about the same thing those swiftboat guys and Dan Rather tried to accomplish during the last elections.

Diplomacy worked in the case of N. Korea or at least seems to be working. I think China also played a huge roll since they had much more at stake (Their neck of the woods).
