RE: Hi all....

Welcome and enjoy yourself. there are some really nice people here.

RE: Using mentally disabled people

You're right of course. Unfortuantely, there are a lot of mentally unstable, disenchanted people there and other places that are easy to control.

If there isn't action from within, I believe we will continue to see similar instance where mentally disabled people are used in these attacks. I keep wondering where the voice is of the moderate majority. Baffels me that people have failed to act against those that kill their own.

RE: what is the world doing to help kenya ? and zimbawae ? and burma ?

Hey Gilly,

Always nice to see you out here.

I guess we'll see soon enough what happens. Some interesting posts on here thus far.

cheers

RE: what is the world doing to help kenya ? and zimbawae ? and burma ?

Gilly,

The world isn't doing much and perhaps that's the correct course of action. Maybe the world should do nothing and just let them kill each other. Everytime the world steps in to help there are complaints about abuses, exploitation, etc... If we let nature take its course then all these other naitions that minded their own business wont have to worry about all these complaints.

RE: black school

It's a bad idea. What exactly are we going to gain from teaching our children to seperate themselves from people of differnt color or background?

I see this as nothing less than a fast track to even more racial inequality. I thought the world had learned some valuable lessons from the social injustices suffered in the US and other places in recent history. Dividing people along racial, ethnic, and religeous lines states very clearly that we lack the capacity to embrace or understand rather than fear differences.

What's next?

RE: But they just wanted a better life.

Ahhh Oslo, I am so disappointed that you didn't figure this out..

I see it quite clearly. If you take all those letters from the news article and scramble them up, you will eventually come up with the right letters to Spell "Illegal Immgration". See how simple that was. A little imagination goes a long way...

RE: State of the Union Address

It seems from the way you started this thread that you don't really care for Pres Bush.

That being said, it's also nice to see that you put that aside (if that was the case) to actually see the pros and cons of the speech.
Perhaps if others handled things in this manner there would be a lot fewer arguements on this and other sites.

BTW, I agree with your pro/con remarks.

RE: Public apology

Jlb,

Never saw anything like that from you before. It was a classy thing to come out in the same fashion/forum to apologize.

RE: Negative Attitudes

Scottish Lass,

You are always such a sweet lady. Unfortunately, based on the content thus far you may have to send this again.

RE: Yes, that's right, ANOTHER why question for intelligent Christians.....

Goose,

yes I have faith but I'm a realist as well. I don't believe the Bible is entirely accurate due to translations, influence by the church, the way people interpret individual verses, etc.. but I do believe there are truths still in it. What is truth and what is not is up to the individual to determine through their own study and experiances. I believe the same is true with all such books regardless of where they came from or what religeon they represent.

What I meant by "threads like these" is just the opposite of how you view it. It would seem as long as there are people who believe enough to debate these points then people believe in the existance. Therefore, to them, God exists.

Thanks for your comments. These issues can get rather heated and I choose not to go down those paths (or at least I try) I believe most Christians, Jews, Muslims, Athiests, etc... will defend their positions when challenged. The manner is the only thing that varies.

Respect is the key. You have a right to believe whatever you wish and you have the right to question whatever you like, make your own decision and press on with life. Me being nasty towards you or vice versa would do nothing to strengthen either of our beliefs or positions.

Be well

RE: Yes, that's right, ANOTHER why question for intelligent Christians.....

I asked similar questions 20 years ago when my 2 year old son died i.e. why did God kill my son and why can't he be alive again. I got no answers.

I hated that but as time went on I came to accept it and discoverd that even though it was nearly impossible to deal with, I got through it. Eventually, I used that experiance to help others through similar tragedies in their lives. Perhaps that's why it happened and perhaps that's why God didn't save my son or bring him back from the dead. Maybe this is wrong but it certainly seems that way to me.

Regardless, I've seen some of the debates regarding this issue and similar issues throughout this thread and others. These debates alone only add proof to God's existance. The Bible, Quran, etc.. can't really be completely trusted or accurate due to the countless translations, omissions, Church influences, etc... but I believe the basic beliefs are as valid today as they ever were.

Who really knows the answer to your question? Perhaps those with cancer know there's a possibility for a cure and perhaps those with missing limbs know that technology just isn't available yet with the exception of prosthetics. Even so, I don't believe the lack of faith or belief equates to someone with cancer or another disease being more important to God than someone who lost a limb.

RE: Too far?!

You're only about 100 miles from where my house is. I would have had no problem with the drive.

Last time I was home I looked for the woman in the back yard. Maybe I should unlock the gate so she can get in.

All joking aside, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

RE: I have just realised......

RE: SHOULD DRUGS BE MADE LEGAL?

Ddidn;t want to quote your whole post but very well put.

I would only add that a law which is not enforcable is not worth having. We have demonstrated time and time again there is very little interest and certainly little success in the so called war on drugs,

We could use that money much more effectively in education, prevention and treatment. I think most people are capable of making sound decisions.

RE: What in the sam-hell is going on overseas? : )

Well, that just proves that will will opnly take so much. SHould be an interesting show as long as you're near an exit

RE: Obama?? I had no idea

If your comment was for me, I know Barak isn't a Muslim and I was off point. I just hate to see comments like the one I responded to go without someone challenging them.

RE: Obama?? I had no idea

Why stop with not electing those with Muslim ties? Let's include all the groups. Christians, Jews, etc... After all, aren't the Christians raping choir boys and using donated funds to do evil in the name of God. And the Jews are reportedly plotting similar evil deeds.

For every negative item you find which involves a Muslim I can find a similar one on a Christian or a Jew. The only difference is I would not dismiss all because of what a single person does or does not do

It's this type of extreemism, ignorance and fear which will lead us to more and more conflict. When are we going to understand the hate we create when our mouths or fingers operate independent of our common sense?

RE: Who Gets Queasy When They See George Bush?..LOL

Lioness,

Thanks for the response. I am glad I asked for clarification as I initially thought you were talking about the GWOT which I believe has been brewing for a long time and I have a lot of respect for some of the things Reagan did and stood for while he was in office.

I don't claim a whole lot of knowledge about the inner workings or financial dealings with the Bush's and haliburton. Each administration since Reagan has had more than their share of corruption, scandal, etc.. It would be nice to see the whole bunch fall by the wayside and start fresh with a relatively unknown. It sickens me each time I watch the BS coming from the 2 major parties and am somewhat frustrated because the only thing I know for sure is who I would not vote for.

Have a good evening/morning

RE: Who Gets Queasy When They See George Bush?..LOL

Reagan is all where our crisis all began.

Just curious, what crisis are you referring to?

NOTE: If this post didn't come out right I'm sorry, just trying to figure out the new quote system

RE: Ladies always want to go to Yahoo to swap pictures and they....

It was meant to be an eye opener.

I trust no one until I can see who I am talking to especially when it's unsolicited.

RE: how much are u ready to do for OBAMA?

Well, his politics don't match mine so not much in the way of voting for him. But he would be my first pick out of the dems running. I think we need the breath of fresh air versus the stale breath of "experiance" offered up by others in the running

RE: Clinton for President

No feathers ruffled (at least not long term). And certainly no harm done.

If you want reasons, here are just a few.
Whitewater
Her conflict of interest allegations involving the Rose Law Firm
Travel Gate

(None really substabntiated but where there's smoke....)

On the issues
She wants to raise taxes
She is less than firm on her position on the Iraq war
Universal Health Care Idea - Socialized medicine (We don't need govt dictating our health care).
She has lot's of ideas and I believe they are the wrong ideas.

Finally, and on a more personal level.

Finally and more personally, I cringed through the drama, deceit and out and out lies that surrounded the white house the last time she lived there. I don't want more of the same. I want a change and on the Dem ticket she really doesn't come off as a change at all.

Anyway, have a great night and seriously, no harm done and no offense taken..

cheers
