I'd say it is. Some would disagree I do believe however, it is not the law or how it is applied that is at fault but the ability of some to mount an expensive defense or prosecution that makes a lot of difference. As well, past record counts for much as well as does the character and standing of the person being tried or prosecuting. in the end, once you cut through all the window dressing, the law is the law and, is applied equally once everything is taken into consideration.

Laws are made BY lawyers FOR lawyers.

The law heavily favours the bourgeoisie.

It even more heavily favours the rich.

I know of no law that does any of the above. Can you provide these laws so that we can see them?

I`m curious if Sharia Law is included in this discussion, because if it is I think you will find a wide array of enforcement under this religous law.

law is a gun for politicians to make money or to keep them untouchable from crimes. they put law in a books but in fact there is none in a court.

I think the answer would depend on which country's law we're talking about. Here in the US, the laws are the same for everyone. Because they are enforced by people, however, enforcement of the law can vary somewhat in application.

The law does not distinguish any difference between rich or poor or black or white or male or female. However, it does require some resources to secure the best representation and, although, if you are destitute, a court appointed lawyer will be provided, a court appointed lawyer is the equivalent of moldy bread and muddy water as a staple diet.

gleneagle: Well I agree with you on the latter part. However during that slow drive through LA in June 94 if he'd not been famous he'd have been taken out by SWAT rather than driving thrugh residential areas brandishing a gun. The celebrity fact saved his life.

Not so sure about that, either. Police go to great lengths to avoid using deadly force. I can't count the number of times I thought for sure a bullet through the head was the imminent solution to a police standoff or chase but nope.... that doesn't happen - not usually, anyway. To do suicide by cop, you've got to pull out a gun and be dead serious about shooting them in order to get the desired result.

British law isn't an equal playing field. Obviously the rich can afford better lawyers but also there is political correctness which has the effect of treating minorities differently - when righting a previous wrong it is impossible not to introduce a new bias and so basically we have inverted discrimination in the modern era.

I doubt if OJ wasn't a well known sports figure if he would've got the same exact treatment being an ordinary person.

He really lost nothing cause the attorneys got it all.

LOL... No, I wasn't in Nam but I served from '77 through 82 in the Army and the old-timers did what they could to help expand our vocabularies properly.
