My father, an Irishman, was born on this day 1916 , he departed this world Aug 2000, we have a French sounding surname.

I celebrate this day, as my fathers birthday, despite being British,

It also matters how that person says thank you or cheers, It can sometimes come across as condescending, I had to have a word with my son, He will call females dear on the phone, he is 28, I told him, if a 28 year old lad called me dear on the phone, I would not be a happy bunny
