RE: Humanity

Yes, education. But it depends what you teach them.

Sounds like Afgainistan fell, more today.

RE: What is Thought?

Thought is life.

Even plants appear to display choices.

Just a thought!

RE: Some frightening statistics on mental health

Mr V, you tickle my memory more than this coffee this morning.

As Chinese Jan would say, 'those days'...

A little part of everyone becomes us.

RE: The Myth Of On-Line Friends

PS: They are very strong. No matter how tempting, one is enough! Don't get greedy at your age!

RE: The Myth Of On-Line Friends

Cat, I am pleased to be able to help you with your quest to make love all night again. It works for all sorts of men. After questionable translation, I believe the locals call it 'The Village Flower'. They grow in many parts of China and if you spend enough time walking you can see many. The best news of all, well sort of, you can search for them online.

I don't need to describe them for you. You'll know when you see them! bouquet

RE: Some frightening statistics on mental health

I can't help myself sometimes. It's one of my positive traits.

I never, never ever reported ANYONE my entire life anywhere! And I've read many things many place. Why the hell would I care? If I don't like it, I just pass it by. Some people enjoy freedom of speech, others? Why would someone have the need to try to delete someone? Serious God complex or control issues?

This time I'm really done. You take the last word.

RE: The Myth Of On-Line Friends

Perhaps "bingo with friends" is tonight? rolling on the floor laughing

Old people. They can't embraces progress.sad flower

What are you doing here then? Don't you have some bonfires or square dancing to attend? wink

RE: Some frightening statistics on mental health

The past should stay the past.

RE: The Myth Of On-Line Friends

I forget who said it and how it was said, but give a person anonymity if you desire the truth. Of course in this situation that would contradict my devil's advocate roll I wanted to play. You raised too many valid points to go unchecked, with your blogcheers

My opinion is, friendship offers companionship and comfort. Both of which I can receive in person or online. A huge advantage with the later (online), is the ability to reach around the world. In the person, I meet a very limited number of people to call "friend" compared to how many I can meet 'online'.

But dinner and drink with a friend face to face is a unique experience that can't be felt with online friends. I do agree!

RE: Some frightening statistics on mental health

This preservation of animosity is encouraging. devil

RE: Some frightening statistics on mental health

Did she just accuse you of cross dressing?uh oh

RE: The Myth Of On-Line Friends

I'd enjoy responding as the devil's advocate, when I feel a computer keyboard under my fingertips. In some ways, online friendship is superior.

RE: Some frightening statistics on mental health

Jim, age has apperently refined your humor. thumbs up thumbs up

RE: Consumer rights...

Some girls give up too easy. They don't understand their power or men.

RE: Consumer rights...

The guys get it but the women don'thelp

Luckylady said "there are plenty people who buy based on the perceived discount..." and sellers know this!

Perceived, is the problem. Stop "perceiving" and start educating yourself. Be an informed buyer. It is your responsibility, not the sellers. Do we really need more laws to protect, how shall I say, naive people? Pedal said it well. Everyone knows MSRP is a number pulled out of their a**. You paid the price as it was marked. End of story. Don't fall for those 70% off never ending sales.

Maybe lonely people like to know they are not alonehug A form of comfort, for the sleepless (me).

RE: What is Thought?

I can see how you misunderstood but it was not a contradicting statement. Please allow me another attempt. What we 'think' is reality or what we 'feel' reality is, might not be true or real. Can we be misunderstanding our own existence? What is possible is always changing, thus 'our' reality is always changing but reality can't change? So again, we might not exist as we think, only in this time and moment are we this way. In 2000 years from now, what will be humanly possible if technology continues to advance at this current rate? Eternal life?

What would reality look like in a black whole? Hawkins speculates, different?

"Now, let us divide two different numbers by the number “0”.

According to mathematics, dividing a number by 0 gives the answer “infinity”
e.g, 3/0 = “infinity”(normally represented by the number 8 rotated through 90 degrees)

Choosing “1” and “2” as the two numbers,
we get
1/0 = infinity, 2/0 = infinity

Thus, when we divide both numbers by the same number, that is, “0”, we obtain the same answer.

Does that mean that the two different numbers, “1” and “2” are equal?
In other words, is “1” = “2”?"

I'm not a mathematician, but "0" is not a number, is it? So your equation is flawed. You can't divide both sides by nothing. "0" should be the existence of nothing. 0/0? I don't know. But I do understand 1/0 and 2/0 both being infinitely divisible. This is too complex for me to comment about. I believe your math is far superior to mine. It has been many years since I used it.

Consider any two numbers, “a” and “b”.
Say “a” = 8, and “b” = 4
Dividing “a” by “b”, we get 8/4 = 2
Cross multiplying, we get
4 x 2 = 8 which is correct

This one is easyprofessor

I think you made a mistake, or I am missing something?

8/4=2/1 then cross multiply and divide to make sure they are "=" 8=8 This just shows it is a balanced equation. It is not an answer. It is a test. You have two different math problems here trying to show it as one. It's too hard writing algebra on here.

8/4= 2 same as 8/4=2/1 same thing.

Thanks for the intriguing blog!

Johnny, great answer! Maybe you and me drank some of the same water as kids?

RE: Do you have friends on CS?

Oh good point. I have habit of thinking worst.

I must sleep now.

Sounds like an honest man.

RE: Do you have friends on CS?

If your friend is from USA I can send you an Internet link. You can type his name in and see if he has been in trouble with some laws.

RE: Do you have friends on CS?

Is he from the USA? Have you done a public background check on his name? Criminal record check? Do you understand?

I just like to think of everything. He's probably alright. Just be careful.

RE: Do you have friends on CS?

He's moving to Thailand?

How old are your boys?

RE: Do you have friends on CS?

No no, I don't think all women are like you. Nite nitehandshake

Women like scary guys devil

RE: Do you have friends on CS?

Praison, it's easy to figure out with some experience and common sense. hug

RE: What is Thought?

Red, I like your description of meditation. For me, when I am able to stop 'thinking' of 'things' that excite or stimulate me, I liable to fall asleep. I sometimes close my eyes and mentally focus on the darkness with my eye sight. I'm sometimes able to occupy my mind with useless simple no nonstimulating 'thought' and it can help me fall asleep. Sometimes I'll catch myself slipping into sleep, with 'thoughts' mixing together like a crazy dream. I imagine this is not abnormal.

44, I disagree that it is the limitations of math. I believe it is our distorted view of reality that we should not trust. Why did they 'think' the world was flat? Because it looks that way.
In my world the numbers don't lie. I trust the numbers over my senses and the skewed facts spewed from our ignorant teachers. (I'm not using ignorant in a derogatory way)
Scientists created the periodic table long before most of the elements were found. They trusted the math over their senses and the math was correct. Same with Einstein's theory. Their are many examples. This is the reason I know ALL religions are completely wrong. No facts, no math to support it. Only hearsay and 'feelings'. And history proves 'feelings' wrong time and time again, unlike the math I spoke of.

Yes self awareness requires thought. Thought can include subconscious 'thinking' too. At least that is my understanding of the definitions (without looking them up). Consciousness
is your awake state of mind and subconscious, well you understand.

Animals have thought. Of course not parallel to ours, but I don't understand how someone can pray to a statue all their life either, yet that involves thought(making the decision to approach the statue). And equally I don't understand why a cat will do some of the things they do.
