I think that the problem with atheists is their utter certainty and zeal. Also, atheism throughout the 20th century was part of communism. Also, atheists are off base in their attacks on christianity. Yes, there is oppression of people by religion. Globally, its about 80% radical muslim, 10% hindu, 5% Russian orthodox, and 5% everybody else.
Like you, at first I found office politics horrible, but after a while I learned to live with the politics. I think people need to follow certain rules:
(1) Don't sacrifice your family for your job.
(2) A secure job is better than an insecure job.
(3) Have an exit plan wherever you are. Even if you like your job now, things might change.
Seems like you have to be careful before you trust anybody. There are good guys out there. It's just that you have to go thru the losers before you find them.
