I'm not saying it is right, but maybe they do it so they won't be prejudged. They might just want a chance? And by putting that, people don't just pass them by based on race. Just a theory.
Western culture has different beliefs from your culture. So what you see as being disrespectful, might not be to us westerners. In my beliefs, a man ordering me to do something and expecting me to blindly obey is disrespectful. It is all a matter of perspective and what you were raised to believe.
I agree with mjames...it works the other way too. I don't want someone extremely older than me, because we would be at different points of our lives. But if you like older women, there are some out there that prefer young men. It's all about personal preference.
