Nope. It's not really a new trend, actually. Many have stuck around, for whatever reason(s), after they have supposedly 'met' their match. Of course, most of the questions you have posed are subjective, per person/couple.Personally, for me... I wouldn't continue to be a member on a Dating Site if I were in a committed relationship, regardless of where me & my significant other actually met. But, that's just how *I* feel about it.
