Lets feed the patient with better food this time I am not for a full blown socialist or state run government. Just a mix between private companies and governments.
It goes in cycles. I already mentioned that. The system works for some and not for others during an economical cycle. The only businesses that are immune to downtimes are the businesses that offer a service or product that the people are dependent on. I never said the system does not work, but I did say that it fails every so often. It leads to more centralization of the wealthy elite which does not promote a free market if we use history as our guide.
Businesses will be fine Indy. There is too much fear going around. Nothing has happened yet and nobody can predict with good accuracy what will really happen. There is no way the bar would be raised lower for taxing businesses. Not even the democratic controlled congress will buy that.
And a lot of Obama's programs will not make it through congress. So you can take a huge sigh of relief.
The bailout program will help a lot of small businesses and the taxes will not break them, but make them leaner and meaner while American society as a whole benefits.
No, that is not how it works Zee...getting a cut of other people's money is applied in sectors where your pursuit of whatever does not carry such a heavy burden. It evens out in the end for the joe shmoe...especially the regular joe's who will never be rich. Nobody is going to take ALL OF YOUR MONEY. The fact is that the system has failed one to many times. It needs to be evolved with capitalist and socialist measures. A happy balance voted in by the people.
How does that correlate with government control? Clinton did preside over the most successful economy in America's history. I am not a huge Clinton fan, but at least the tax cuts for small businesses was a huge variable that helped a lot of businesses boom (especially my mom's). I think Obama should raise the bar to maybe medium sized businesses as far as taxing goes...over the 250,000 minimum to 500, 000.
You missed my point Indy...examining how that money gets invested and who really benefits by putting the money back in the system carries a load of issues that would be hard to discuss in a forum.
Well, I can say that when times are good, the trickle down effect does factor in for almost everybody. It does create more jobs, higher pay, and higher consumer spending. However, the trickling down only last so long before another bubble busts. A huge problem recently (especially since the 80/90's) is the excess wealth or pay going to business executives instead of other areas where that money could be well invested for the present and future of the economy. Stagnation comes from excess greed most of the time.
Sorry to hear about your army buddy Ship. Anyways, Las Vegas is an awesome city. My brother and father live there, and I love visiting them in Vegas. I love how everybody is from somewhere else. I've met only like 2 people who actually grew up in Vegas.
Good luck there and enjoy the sunshine. I'm sure you can survive the summer heat since you've been living in Florida. At least it's a dry heat in Vegas in the summer time.
Can somebody please nutshell that video for me? I could not bare to watch that boring horse race and it looked like it was leading to nowhere. Shall I have another look?
I'd actually would not mind being stranded on an island with 6-8 ladies here from CS. I'm thinking 3-4 day shifts with each women. That would be like beyond awesome. And on Fridays, I'd be more than happy to "spread the wealth around" to each lady.
No, it will never work. There is no way it would work.
I don't mind joke threads cause I rarely click on them. It's a waste of time and too risky to read some long joke and waste 2 minutes of my time if the joke turns out to be a dud.
I wonder what kind of lingerie she bought? I'm thinking she is a string woman....Anyways, I'm sure her spending spree will go will with independent women voters who are hockey moms....lol
It may be a malfunction with my screen or something crashed. Either way, I don't have a computer right now. I'm working on the problem and using another computer. So it looks like I may be gone for a few days....My world has officially collapsed....
Well you got me HL. You scared me for a second there cause I know pretty much where you stand on these issues and always have appreciated your threads that present an outside of the box perspective.
Take care honey and try to not eat all the donuts after the Sunday service...
The same problems were documented across the nation last election. And all the mistakes the machines made magically favored Bush.
Walden W. O'Dell, the chief executive of Premier Election Solutions, formerly Diebold Election Systems, , is a longtime Republican, he is a member of President Bush's ''Rangers and Pioneers,'' an elite group of loyalists who have raised at least $100,000 each for the 2004 race.
Some people find Mr. O'Dell's pairing of interests, as voting-machine magnate and devoted Republican fund-raiser troubling...Gee, the Republicans did not just have the most corrupt 8 years in America's history. Nevermind all the corrupted scandals (would take up this whole page listing them), but Republicans are honest people. They are not cheaters and have never been accused of voter fraud. Just look how awesome America and the world is right now with 8 years of Republican rule.
Anyways, here....it's all there with links to all kinds of different sources. Search is your friend.
Here is some more entertainment pulled from wiki. And feel free to click on the numbers that appear next to some of the words...it links to the news source for those of you who are not on a first name basis with Wiki....
According to Democratic attorney Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.:
But what is most anomalous about the irregularities in 2004 was their decidedly partisan bent: Almost without exception they hurt John Kerry and benefited George Bush. After carefully examining the evidence, I've become convinced that the president's party mounted a massive, coordinated campaign to subvert the will of the people in 2004. Across the country, Republican election officials and party stalwarts employed a wide range of illegal and unethical tactics to fix the election. A review of the available data reveals that in Ohio alone, at least 357,000 voters, the overwhelming majority of them Democratic, were prevented from casting ballots or did not have their votes counted in 2004 -- more than enough to shift the results of an election decided by 118,601 votes. ... In what may be the single most astounding fact from the election, one in every four Ohio citizens who registered to vote in 2004 showed up at the polls only to discover that they were not listed on the rolls, thanks to GOP efforts to stem the unprecedented flood of Democrats eager to cast ballots. And that doesn’t even take into account the troubling evidence of outright fraud, which indicates that upwards of 80,000 votes for Kerry were counted instead for Bush. That alone is a swing of more than 160,000 votes -- enough to have put John Kerry in the White House.
One more time:
Aside from such official actions, there were disputes about other voter registration activities. In Nevada and Oregon, a company hired by the Republican National Committee solicited voter registration forms, but was accused of filing only the Republicans’ forms and shredding those completed by Democrats. A nonprofit organization, ACORN, was accused of submitting false voter registration forms and of carelessly or deliberately failing to submit some valid ones that it had received.
