President Obama left the door open to possible GITMO detainess to be set free in the US, again. Does this make sense?
After WWII, there were many German POWs here in the US. They were sent home.
But with this conflict.....of ideology.....there is not going to be any formal declaration of peace. So countries that these came from are hestiant to take them back. Leaving them in GITMO is not the WH policy or position. Only so many Islands with sandy white beaches around. So .....seems like....good old USA will be the new home of some.

She says young women have a 'lack of self confidence' because of comments like Letterman's....this is a direct shot by the way on ...NOW....that failed to step forward when Palin was hammered in the election. NOW promotes young women self awareness programs. But has let her daughter's gets hammered in this.
That can place her right back on top of the women right movement in the country.
Does this have the potential to cost Letterman his job? Like Imus comment on the Rutgers women basketball team did?
I think that Palin, if she is going to be player in 2012....has to get his job. Letterman realized he was way over the line.....and that is why he offered the show time. his job is on the line. She is smart not to accept.
She is forcing him to make a public apology...like Imus was forced to...
I kind of see it like the Foxworthy show. Four guys standing on a stage....talking to each other and the croud....we get the redneck attendance that way and win the Bible and Gun belt of America.

Well I think that we have another one of those situations of making holes in the ground developing around NKorea.
The US Ambassador to the UN....just announced that the Obama Administration intends to board ships coming to NKorea. To search them for contraband being smuggled into the country.
If the vessel does not stop on being hailed...the US will contact its home country. And finally if that does not work, the US will put the vessel information (name and suspected cargo) on the internet....that ought to scare em sure enough!
So why is this shooting into the dirt?
Simple, the ship(s) carrying the smuggled NKorea nuc(s), will be coming FROM NKorea, not going TO NKorea.
Sure the boarding are to enforce the sanctions. But with NKorea having working Nucs, the real deal threat is coming from the country not going to it.
No word in the article about Obama policy on ships coming from NKorea will be. But some how I keep getting the picture of the "Whaling Wars" here....were the two ships attack each other with fire hoses.

Seems they are connected to the non defunk firm called PMA, a lobbying firm. Seems PMA had a lot of various gov't contractors that it lobbied for. Seems lot of those contractors got earmark funding from the DEM Senators. Seems PMA made campaign contribution to the Senator

I read yesterday, where GM hopes to be thru the bankrupcy process in 50-60 days. Out of it will come the new GM, a small firm....
I think they might be a little optimistic on the time frame. SV would know better than myself. But the problem is still with the shareholders that will be filing law suits on the bankruptcy.
I even a got legal notice on the bankruptcy...am not a shareholder, dealer or a vendor to GM. Potentially a vendor though, hence I think the notice.
The new GM wants to carry over existing and new vendor contracts by assumption. That way they don't have to renegotiate them. Whcih make sense to me. Aslo reason maybe for the gov't $30b.
If the new GM does not have the money to pay it vendors contracts....it will not make many cars anytime soon.

The total for both TARP I and TARP II stimulus packages was 1.5 tillion dollars. TARP I was begun prior to the Nov. election of last year. It is over 8 month old now.
The American public, the voting people of this country and the tax payers of this country....are footing the bills for both the economic lose AND the TARP stimulus packages. Yet nothing is happening on main street America where those they live and work.

I don't get it.....President Obama says...."we expect only have a unemployment rate of 8.0%" and "will create 4 m jobs with the stimulus package". Well President Obama, we are at 9.4% unemployment (and raising) and to date only created 150,000 those jobs. Time to do a reality check, Mr. President. You are not in touch with main street America.

Had taken our new Jeep Compass to a 'do it yourself' car wash. Placed it is the wash stall and was walking to get the coins to run the system. As I do. I pass a man, maybe 5-7 years older than myself and his hoopdy car in a stall. He is cleaning the inside.
For you that don't know what hoopdy is, is American slang old jucker of a car. I am definitely having better times than he is. But notice his license plate has a "United States Army" embedded in it. Means he is a vet.
So get my coins and am heading back to my car. He now is coming to get his coins and we pass. I say..."When did you serve in the Army?" He says "1967 to 1971 and you?" Now passed, I say "1980 to 1986".
He stops and turns to me. I stop and turn to him. We step together and shake hands. He says..."Thank you, Brother." And part.
His service was at the height of Vet Nam....mine was peace time.

One of the Obama Stimulus construction projects just got approved funding. Again one of those things that will bring tears to your eyes, and either grin or a growl to your lips.
The proejct is a Hudson River Tunnel project. The tunnel will connect NJ and NY and shorten the travel time for some NJ to the NYC by 15 minutes. The service is provided by the NJ TRansit authority.
The 8.4b estimated cost of the tunnel is being shared by FED, NJ and NY. With $3b to the FEDs. It will employ 6,000 till 2017 when the tunnel is done.
But here are the kickers. NJ and NY are like CA, nearly bankrupt themselves. Each will have to anty up it share of the project. Taking moneys from other employment creating state projects.
Also the NJ TRansit authority is competition with the AMTRAC for commuter. The AMTRAC trip to NYC is already 15 minutes less in time than the NJ TRansit trip. AMTRAC is a FED gov't run business that is also on the list of possible bailouts.
So by funding the tunnel, the FED hurt thier own train service that provides the same service at a faster time.
One last little piece of this tunnel puzzle....could we say 'tunnel to nowhere puzzle'.....NJ is home state to Joe Biden. And Joe Biden uses the NJ Transit to travel to/from NYC and DC.
Am looking at some pics of the Island. Have to admit the Hujlie made a good deal on this. Nice relocate to a SP Island, beaches, resort hotels, bringing $200m into the local economy....they are going to be heroes to the Islanders.
Some homes are in the $3m range.
