At this point, I am waiting for the first complaints to come from those being forced to evaucate New Orleans and LA when the hurricane did not have enough force to merit it. "Gesh we could have stayed home and had a huricane party instead getting on the road and driving out."
Why didn't the Gov't weather radars, satellites and hurrice planes give us a more accurate forecast of the storm....so we could have just cancelled schools and taken a couple of days off?
Why is GWB doing this us just to avoid making appearance at the RNC and facing all the protesters there. Why is McCain and Palin down here in the south when they should be up in MN seeing the Iraq war protesters. Are they trying to take away all the media that the protester would get if they were there? To avoid the millions of demonstrators there......

Does the concept of 'imprefect science' or 'flawed computer models' seems to apply here? I think so. We may live in this world and think that we know it very well. Predicting its events and thier forces is a real art of science that has flaws, errors and weakness to the predictions.

About 3 year agos, I attended a two hour presentation by a Christian archelogist.....a bone collector....with solid scienctific credentials....he brought in several 100 bones and 100s of slides of the all the various known evolutionary links....then he began to dissolve the meat around the Darwin theory of evolution.
He begins to show how much time it would take for this evolution jump to be made from one jaw bone to the next. OK?......same with thighs...hands....thumbs....skulls....and so on. In other words for evolution to occur the way Darwin is saying it did.....all these various body parts have to make the evolution jumbs together....and right there is a problem....what is the probablity of it happening? Because each time you add a body part/bone....that probability factor grows.
Obie by the time he is finished......modern man has so many missing links to these early primates bones..... it is hard to see how the evolution could occur....and it would take so long for the evolution to occur.....that it does not fit in the timeline of Earth's ancient history that we done by carbon dating of artifacts of the times.

Whom am I....not being an expert archelogist....to say that the Darwin archelogist has 'the answer' and that this Christian/Creationist archelogist does not? Or vice verse? What I am saying is that in the academic debate, both should be heard. That takes me back to my court room example of earlier. You would hardly consider that a fair trial to have one of the attroneys gagged. But that is what is happeing when schools/teachers cannot at least have some minimual class time to creationism.
Everyone wants to be judge and jury on this issue of evolution/creationism. And to take sides of this or that being the answer. Me? I am just going to keep an open mind to both positions....and want both be given fair excess and chance to be heard.

I have tried to say this delicately in the past, Sky. All of them 'broke' over there. Go 7-8 hours in a bound and knelling position with the ropes so tight they are cutting off your circulation.....and you will break.

The Dem and far left seem to be making a lot of issue to the effect his being a POW might have on his metal abilities and state of mind. So let me address that.
Take a look at the men that were POWs that came back. Many had divorces and broken family lives that they simply could not rebuild or maintain. Of the group how many of them have also gone on to lead normal and productive lives....stockton, curry, and most of the other including McCain have led good lives here. They rebuilt their lives in both militray, political public service. Not prefect, but who is?
McCain rebuilt his life after both being a POW and having a divorce. What does that show? Exactly shows a lot of moral character and presevance. Good qualities in a President.
So I don't buy the Dem and left position that this effected his mental state or his abilities. How does one stay in the Senate making speeches in front of some very astute people....for as long as McCain has if his mental abiltiies are diminished?
After the war, they changed our military doctrine and thinking on what collaboration and what was not collaborating with the enemy as a POW, just because of what happened there.
As for losing some aircraft. I once rolled a military tracked vehicle. Yep....put it right on it is side.....military pilots and heavy equipment drivers push thier equipment in military training to the limit. Knowing that in real combat, you got to be able to make it do things that the norm civilian would not even consider doing it with it.
Ever see the movie "Top Gun"? The USNAVY Top Gun advanced fighter dog fighting school was developed after Vet Nam. They saw that during the war the the ratio of American losses and kills narrowed to the point where we could someday lose control of a combat air space. We needed a way to regain the edge. Hence they started this school....to teach pilots to push the envolope of the aircraft's abilities.
But they were doing this kind of flying even before the school was started in military training. It is dangerous and even a little mechanical failure will crash you.
If you really wish to find McCain was incompantant as a pilot. I will tell you how. Get the accident investigation reports of the 5 crashes. Have a aviation expert review them.....and give you the causes of the accidents. Now you got something. If it comes up 5 accidents by pilot error with out weather related or mechanical failures. Then I would agree he should not be flying......maybe he is better off in the White House as President.:-) At least he is safer than having a hot military fighter aircraft under his seat, if he is there.:-)
I was down in the area a week after Charlie hit. Not at the city.....but area......I lost count on phone and electrical lines down. There was tall radio station antennea that looked like a inverted V. Trees were either topped out....or torn out of the ground. Well if you go public with them in a book or media relaese....the Mr.Clean begins to fade and you have given your political enemies ammo.

What we are seeing here....is a canidate and staff that says they are all for political, personal, and financial transperancy. It is kind of like your example of 300 years go they were drilling holes in people heads to release evil spirits. A few of those patients survived, and the medical community figure they were on to something. But they did not have the medical knowledge to 'why' the operation was effective in certain cases.
Today, would you have our medical schools not cover the technique of relieving carnial pressure by holes, to patients that have massive head trauma injuries or hemmoraging, because they had the 'why' wrong 300 years ago? There are some pretty solid scienctists that still embrace creationism. When you press creationsim out of our school systems, you also begin to discredit their work and findings. Is that fair?

Science most often works with visual observation and recording of those observations. How would one observe, a invisible God? And then be able to make accurate records of a all powerful God?
