Title was "Oil Prices Fall Among Economic Fears"
Saying to self......the guy writing this is either a solid Democrat or totally new to business reporting....and had seen the by-line of "economic fears" so manytimes...he just knew it had to be in the title or his editor would not place it.
Hitting back to back homeruns in a Little League game at age 11.
Niether was what you call a long hard hit ball that broke the lights above teh grandstands. Both landed in about the same place.....3 feet beyond the fence in right/center. But hey......a homer is a homer is a homer. Only ones I ever hit in Little League.

Jesse is an old hand with hot mikes, Skybow. He had his own tv show for a while....they would hot mike him for that.....and when ever he does interveiws inside a studio...which is often....he is hot miked.
He knows that once you are wired......then you are being recorded. Shucks he likely had a 'red light' on the camera in front of him that is saying..."it is recording".
Maybe it was a spur of the moment thing. But Jesse Jackson is an old political...he knows the tricks to getting air time....and to making issues. I think that he planned it. Jesse mind you, not Obama.
Just the delivery as well. Why whisper? LOL.....there were not anyone with in ear range to his back. Yet he does not look around to check. Reminded me of two kids in elementary school...sitting side by side....planning to play hookie.

I think that this was unpromted. Bernie Mac fell back into his club routine jokes material. Only it does not play with this croud of Barak supporters who are 'politically correct'.
Where as with Jesse Jackson......that was premediated and planned from the get go.....totally for some Barak Obama lime light gaining.
I find it interesting....Bernie Mac did not claim his 'freedom of speech' right in this little affair. Had Bernie Mac been invited to a GWB White House affair....done the same....and gotten criticized for it......I bet the next newsman to talk with him....is hearing.....'freedom of speech'.

North Korea just agreed to totally dismantle its reactor by Oct. So pressure and diplomancy can work. But they would have never said that without a US military presence and military options on the table against them.
Iran is more complicated than North Korea. Thier nuclear facilities are more in number, some are buried, Iran has put more dollar into them, and still has tacid support from Russia.....for their having the programs. But nothing will happen without a military presence and military options on the table with Iran, in my opinion.
You cannot imagine the pressure to be energy independant here in the US now with the price hitting $4 per gal. Environmentalists are losing support because thier positions. As they do, Democrat representatives...can come around to approving the offshore and anwar drilling programs.
Even better than opec at .20 per gallon. Is US produced at .20 per gallon.:-) We will all be driving Caddies with 427 in them again.:-)

To go after the deep mountian base complexes with nucs? Well I shot the idea down with some papers. There were other ways to achieve the same without going nuclear.
We are trying to keep this conventional, John. You and Ship both know that. Also the moment we go nuclear, the world will be on us like flies to cow turds. The coming problem is Iran and its nuclear programs, not ours. We could have used them already......the world is not picking up on the restraint that has been shown here.
Washington doesnot want this to go WMD. But there is not much we can do about a Isreal that sees if differently. jmo
Then we stay and get the job done, Ship. Leave and we have no word in what happens there. Leave with a full withdrawal....they (being every anti American group and anti American country in the region) get the choice.
Trish......I don't know about you.....but I am not a collective pawn. The work I do....I consider it valueable and worthwhile. You say that GWB is playing people against eash other.....like telling people that WWIII was a near thing....and causing fear.....a few months ago?
Then last week the Isreali Air Force flies a little 120 plane sortie on a test run for Iran or elsewhere. And the world goes....oh my....they are serious....they might just push the button and this WWIII is on.
The Isreali likely did not even give GWB 24 hours notice of the sortie, Trish. They just did it.
It is not a game, Trish. Real deal and real thing. People just don't want to face the fact that it is close at present. That was always one of the problem with the cold war, by the way. That the militaries would become complacent with such a long conflict of threats without the reality of combat.....that they would make misestimations.
Don't underestimate Pres. A or terrorists that are seeking nuc, Trish. They will use them.
Trish...there are so many opinions, positions and words being expresses on this. I respect your position. And do really wish your professional opinion on Pres. A. I may come on hard....on this....because I have seen it from different perspective than yours. But it does not mean I don't respect your position.
I totally agree Hugs.......I am had the chance to sleep on the things......or at least the practice models.......but they are a reality in our world today. Trish wants to say.....noone should use them because a lot of innocent people will get hurt and killed. I am saying that is exactly why Pres. A will use them.

But my question.....is do you feel safe with Pres. A.....having a nuc on a missile that can reach your backyard? In your psychological judgement......pretty threatening to you and your country?
Ship you are former mil.....and so you know what I write is straight stuff when it comes to mil....that it is best I can make it at least.
You also know that the US has more security, more layers of control, more command structure over those nucs than any other country in the world. When they had misshipment of those nuclear triggers.......heads rolled all the way up to the Joint Chiefs level.
The US is most definitely trying to keep a regime that doesnot the leadership, the controls, the motives to keep their nucs from terrorist hands. This has nothing to do with the Iranian people. The Iranian people are not supplying the IEDs, Lob Bombs and other munitions into Iraq, it is the Iranian gov't and the associated grougs of military and secret agencies that they have.
It will not be the Iranian people that the thread comes from.....but this same group of Iranian leadership....that you have to deal with.

I know to you, Trish that sounds hard and cold. But it got the point of this being a disfunctional religious society as fast as I could take it there. Later, my advise was for the gov't to bring in a lot of the same expertise it would use with a cult, in handling Iran as it could.
That was 4-5 years ago that I wrote that. It has not gotten better. Iran gov't to refuse the opposition groups to have place on the ballots just about sealed the fate to what is going to come, I think. The opposition groups were a means to change the course....so this showdown....crisis...confrontation....whatever term you wish to call it.... is one that the Iranian gov't could have steered away from.
Driven, I think that you hit on the nail. These leaders of Iran have been asking 100s to martyr themselves for the Islamic revolution cause. Eventually given the means.....e.g. Nuclear weapons.....what is the difference between asking 1 to do so? and the 60 m Iranian tha live there?
They know prefectly well that a nuc attack on either the US, Europe or Isreal is just that. But they are not detered like the Russian were by the reality of it happening.

I have never been there. But have seen photo serise of Iran and its people.....it truely is one of the most goregous countries on the planet. But the issue is not its bueaty and wealth....rather....what its threat is to the National Security of countries within the region, with Europe and the United States.
Do this. Rate the threat level (actual use of nuclear devices) of the Soviet Union to the west and US during the heigth of the Cold War on a 1 to 10. With 10 being the worst. Now do the same with a nuclear armed Iran.
I rate a cold war soviet union as a ..................................9 I rate a nuc armed Iran....................................................9.5
Sure Iran will not have the number of Nucs. But Iran has the will power and the motivation to use them. Where as Russia saw the mutual assured destruction it was headed into. Iran considers such destruction only part of this religious tribulation period.
