Residency requirements is the one of the two things that a person has to have to meet to vote. Every state legislature passes it own requirement to meet residency....time in the house, location of the property....
Without it you got chaos in the voting process, Dude. Means people could vote any place in the country, and as many times as they could obtain ballots and submit them.
Residency has been a requirement to vote for many years. Without it.....you could come and vote here......think that is fair?
His fair opportunities is another form of wealth redistribution.....e.g. take from the rich and give to the poor. That in itself is a noble thing to do.....but....it is the person that owns the wealth decision to make on how that transfer of wealth is made. Not the governments.
They became homeless because they signed mortage notes that they could not afford......they failed to understand the terms and conditions that they were entering into. That is hard....but also factual.
The government was not there standing over their shoulder when they signed the note. Only thing on that contract.....was the Fair Lending Laws of the Federal Government....that forced the lender to make a questionable loan.
And now.....the rest of America is paying for it......to the tune of $632b
yep...most state laws for voter registration is a residence within the State, that can be verified. E.G. no PO Box addy.
So the house has been foreclosed on ...they are no longer in a residence.....hence they have lost one of the two principle requirements to a legal registration. The other being a photo identity.
Ever stop to think that many of the people living in forclosed houses, have moved...making them illegal to vote in that princnt or county.
Also if the house has been foreclosed on....they are now without a residence.....e.g. that they no longer have a legal address to confirm thier identity.
In any country there will be times when "being Nice" does not solve problems or giving the poulation a feeling of security and some times the language must be tough ........and Obama certainly needs to talk even more straight and not giving any credits to McCain at all!
McCain sytle....is to be solid during the main event......then to finish with a flurry at the end. Here is what he knows that Obama has not yet picked up on.
People get bored during the middle of a debate, they lose interest and will not remember the main points. They do remember the last few minutes.....that is what they take home, talk of and think about.
It is the old circus show thing. You bring your best act on at the end. That is the one they came to see. The one they remember.
The first 30 minute of the debate...I had it as a draw....it was the economic bailout issue....Obama strong suit. Obama should have been attacking like crazy......but he did not. He went with the John name and lets be buddies. That is right John. That is not attack, rather is trying to gain an a party to your side.
Now it turns to foreign policy. McCain strong point. Notice how McCain went on the attack....got Obama to admit that he is only on a sub committee of the foreign service committee under Biden? got him to explain his lack of presences in Iraq and Afghanistan.? showed him weak on Russia?
Then to finish he flurried. Flurry in a debate is like a boxer working a guy into the corner....and hammering his mid section. Not going for the knock out punch......but to hit him so many times he can not be considered the winner. That was McCain's objective here. Just not to make Obama look Presidential and to lose. He worked Obama into a corner, then hit him with a flurry of attacks that he had no chance to address as time ended.
People remembered the end flurry of McCain. That is why those poll number of the debate were so oneside McCain.....at least the ones that I cite are.
But you got see that the discrepency in the polling number are telling us something else. In a 90 minute debate....they should not be so different than this. People saw the same thing, they were asked a simple question of who won. So why the vast differences in the numbers? Only in the manipulation of the pollsters can it be explained.
Hang on Tinymac....the new ideas are coming from Sarah Palin.... she is one of the new and young Republicans.....there is where your new ideas will come from. All John has to do is shake his head yes.....as she puts them out there.
McCain keeps the old timers aligned.....anyone over 50 in age. Palin is the draw for 30 to 50s and female. The youth vote they conceed to Obama......but now they clobber them on the over 30 vote.
3/4 of the countries vote is 30+. 51% is woman. The demographics for the REP to pull this out is good. Even though the Obama increased the DEM base with the youth registrations. And if the split the DEM woman voters from Obama......watch out.....then they win by 10 points.
I liked it when the moderator.....told them to talk to each other.....and not play to the camera and audience.
That to a polician that is seeking voter support for the Presidency is like saying go slap up on the other guy do a three stooges on him......while the entire country watches. They hardly looked at each other during the debate.......thier campaign managers has warned them about getting video taped in the..."How dare you think that you should be President of the United States Look."
T Bone Pickens is the Texas oil man that is putting together the alternative energy plan for the country. During the debate he had an advertisement to come to his site.....www.pickensplan.net.....to chat on the energy issues.
I went and visited the site.....as did a lot of others....they had a online poll on the debate and you could get the results. Thought you might like to see them.
See Dude, I am almost sure that the left leaning media polls you are reading have aschewed data in them. Visiting a indpeendant poll like Pickens in smart to do on occassion. Go there....check the responses yourself. Also the FOXX call in poll of 94,000 is a good poll. Why? Because the high number of responses. Few of the major polls go beyond 3000 in a sample.
Give you an example of how screwy the polling is. I read yesterday paper here in Florida, a hispanic writer in the paper has a article....McCain is ahead in the Florida hispanic voter by 10 points. Then today in the same paper another article different writer.....about hispanic voters....Obama by 1 point. Are you going to tell me that the Florida hispanic vote changed 11 points in 24 hours? No, did not happen.
What did happen is the two different polling firms took polls in two different places got vastly different results. Most of the national polls are only using 2000-3000 to determine their results......such a small sampling aschews the results if only a few polling elements are out of wack, biased or unfair.
I will give you one more. Yahoo.Com...has a interactive national/state poll. It has all the states.....and you can get the individual poll of each. So I am there.....Titled "Obama leads the Electoral Deligate count 247 to 220 Over McCain.
I go the two battle ground states....Virgina and Ohio.....Virgina has Obama by 2.2%...and the pollster have it the Obama columm with the 13 deligate. I go to Ohio.....Ohio is McCain by 1.8% and the pollster have it undecided....in neither camp. Ohio is 20 deligate votes. If in the McCain camp.....he now has 240. Then I look around the page some. A little click thru...new poll on Virgina.....has McCain in the lead. Hey.... subtract the 13 from Obama and add to McCain....you have McCain in the lead. 253 to 234 in the deligate count.
But that is not what the guy at Yahoo wants to say....so he buries the data by not adding it in and makes a small click thru on the new Virgina poll that would give McCain the lead and change his headline.
His headline is what everyone reads and talks about. He knows that. That is the message he wants to send....he only manuplates the data and the incoming polls to get there. That kind of stuff is happening thru the media today on polling.
Intrepretting the data and also placing the data accurately is a real headache for pollsters. How many time have polls been off on predicting a winner? No one has ever done the study....the pollsters are afraid of what the results will say.
They are all good with great messages. But for me it is Cool Hand Luke.....still remember chain gangs working the roads in the south in the 50 and 60s.

Every politician in Washington.....is saying......"it is the American Tax Payers money". Well if that is the case.....then give it to the American Tax payer.
They say this to us......just to placate us and the situation. Hey the money is yours and we are your agents in how it is to be used. Possession is 9-10th of the law. So if it is our money, why are they giving it to these firms?
Of course, because we not wise enough to use it ourselves? Well after learning of some of things Washington feels is important to fund.....the DNA study of the brown bear of North America for instance.....I can make better decisions than that of where my money can go.
So next time one says....this is your money......send him a note....saying send me my share now, thank you. And we will call it even.

How do you think that Obama felt after the debate? I mean I know what his staff is saying.....but do you think that he was happy with it? He was on defense the last part of the debate. Some are saying that he is cautious by nature.
If so does that make a good quality in a Commander in Chief? Or Chief Executive officer?
Same question of McCain, to be fair and balanced here. Do you think that he was happy with it?
Ship here is my opinion on why we are getting such varied polling stats in the media.
The way I understand that polls are done.......the media picks up the tap for the pollster to do the poll ....that way the media has 'rights' to publish the poll in its programming. It is a copywrite thing.
Now maybe there are some indpendants out there.......but this is the norm I suspect. WUW4 being in journalism and PR might know better than myself. The pollster have to make money someway on this....and it is the media contract that do.
When that order is placed.....the media can ask for the polls to be location specific. Meaning.....do the poll in Brentwood, CA, Watts, CA and Bronx, NY.....obviously if you are polling in strong Obama areas.....the data you get will indicate that.
Sure the FOXX network is a strong McCain media outlet. What the poll really should be read as.....this groups of viewer of FOXX felt McCain won the debate x to y.
But I think that liberal media is doing it and conservative media is doing it as well. So it all balances out fairly........:-)
So why are the debate poll numbers from the media all over the place?
I have a theory. That when media orders a poll....often they will specify the location where that polls is taken. Follow me a little.....
I am NBC and a liberal media with bias to Obama/Biden. I want poll numbers that support them. I give a request to a polling firm.....do a poll of the Presidential campaign and tell me who is ahead....I want you to poll in Brentwood, CA, Watts, CA, Bronx, NY etc......which is easy enough to do by zip code and telephone prefix.
Do you get a poll that is aschewed or one that is accurate? If media is telling the pollster where to conduct the polls in this race, you are getting aschewed data.....simply by the location of where the poll is taken.
Getting earmarks for friends and cronnies, even if their project are of a noble endevour is still out of normal contracting practices and oversight. Has Obama done this? I don't know .......but having earmarks 124 times the average of the other Congressmen........says a lot of how he would run a Adminstration if elected.
Seems to me that Obama has been running his Senate office a lot like Cheney and Halliburton did their contracting. With that we got no oversight, no competition on the contracts, no transperancy. The main complaints of the DEMs. But here the DEM standard bearer is doing vitrually the samething from his office.
McCain said that under his administration...not only would they cut spending......but when earmark approraitions were sould....he would make them public. All Obama did was to try to link McCain to GWB spending of the last terms. Obama did not tell us how he would address earmarks or the massive spending that he wants to do.
In fact Obama is totally onboard the $700b bailout package of GWB.....you need to ask more?
I may wrong.....but McCain in his 22 year on the Senate has never taken a earmark......if so...the Master of the Washington earmark in this race is Obama.....and he learned in 3 years how to do it OH so very well.

The figures I used were from that.....McCain said Obama has $932m in earmarks.....Obama did not correct him or deny it. Obama used the $30b earmark figure for congress, himself.
So do you want to me say they are wrong numbers......just because you seem to think that it preposterious. And when I do a little math on it....to compare it to the average earmark in Congress to give it some presepctive.....that it deserves to be slighted?

When I read that one of Obama managers say....'we will take it into gutters to win this".....I knew that it was not likely that the Obama or his camp would show any respect to McCain. Tonight did reinforce that for me.
Why don't you add in to the post, Sky. That McCain's trip to Vet Nam was one of the first normalization meetings after the war. That one of the reasons that Vet Nam will help in finding remains of United State military personal is because of the work of John McCain on that trip.
Many a family that has lost a loved one in Vet Nam to the war, now has a thier loved one home because of that. Without the agreement on missing remains....they would still be out some jungle.
But I guess you don't see the work that John McCain has done for the country.....only see the Obama and his $932m dollars in earmarks for his first years in the Seante.
Do some math, Sky. The Congress has $30b worth of earmarks.....Obama has nearly $1b of it.......1/30 of the all the earmarks...now count the 99 Senators and the 256 representative (I think)......and you get.....355 total......divide that into the $30b....that is the average earmark....about $7.5m.......your good Senator is 124 times more than the average.

Addressing a long time sitting Senator of 22 years in the Senator by his first name....discredits his standing and his service in the body.

It is sutle disrespect on Obama part not to give him his title of Senator.

Sky, when I was in the service I went thru the militaries training program for being captured, They have a special training program for Officers and NCOs, that give you the do and don't.
This was after Vet Nam. They had erased most of the don't because what occurred to captured pilots in N. Vet Nam. Not many of the rules of name, rank and serial number were left.
About the only do....survive. About the only don't....don't get caught if you escape.
There is a picking order in the Senate, Ship. Freshmen Senators get sat on sub committees.....senior Senators chair committees.
Note when Obama said....Joe Biden is his Chair on the Foreign Services committe and he is on a sbu committee. Joe Biden is really Obama boss in the Senate, at least on that one committee.

The total figure for government earmarks to both the Senate and Congress is $30b.....that according to Obama. If so.......... Senator Obama is taking 1/30 of all the earmark funds of both the Senate and Congress........where there are close to 400 combined Senators and Congressmen.
Do you see anything wrong with that, Dude?
