There could be alot of DEMs that would qualify for speaker if was strickly done by procedural rules...how do you decide then?...seniority might come into play....but what happens when you two that have the same number of years?
They have to choose among themselves who has the position, yes? Let me dig a little to find out....

But we are into a little shin kicking contest (e.g debate) over Palin qualifications. So? I want to know your conviction to your position as much as I want to know your sources, Sky.
Sky, I am selfemployed, a freelancer.....after Kosovo they gave me carde blanche to ....'to find stuff' for us. I can work for gov't, politcal parties, campaigns, business, or my own projects any place on the globe.
Besides, If I was 'in the gov't' do you think that it would be ethical for me to use gov't sources in a political debate? No, very illegal and unethical for me to do that.
I agree. I think that Polosi would be a very bad President. Very divisive. But under the logic that the DEMs are using with Palin.....today she is 2 heart beats away from the Presidency. And likely will be in the next term as well.....no one is going to take the Speaker's role from her.
But it was the DEMs that put her there, when they made her Speaker. They did not seem to raise the heart beat issue then. When they did it, alot of REP raised thier eyebrows on it. My dad said they made Polosi number 3 inline for the Presidency.
We live in time when our where terrorism is a real threat. Our leadership groups are a target. Cheney had suceide bomber come within a 100 yards of him in Afghanistan.
So asking the heart beat question is a fair one. Also questioning the wisdom of the DEMs in putting Nancy Polosi in the Chain of Command of the country should also be a fair one.
I guess we need to check Obama's qualification even more, (if they woul dlet us). I hear he knows a few people that have been investigated, arrested, and charged.....and yes, even convicted.

WASHINGTON - When Russian bombers approach American airspace and U.S. Air Force fighters are scrambled, Sarah Palin's phone doesn't ring.
The Alaska governor has no command authority over the guardians of U.S. airspace despite her recent suggestion otherwise.
"She doesn't have any role in that process," Air Force Maj. Allen Herritage, spokesman for the Alaska North American Aerospace Defense Command, told the Daily News.
"The authority to launch and respond to a Russian incursion lies with the Alaska NORAD Region commander" - Air Force Lt. Gen. Dana Atkins, he said.
Palin said last week that her foreign policy experience includes facing the Russians.
"It's very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia, as Putin rears his head and comes into the airspace of the United States of America - where do they go? It's Alaska," Palin told CBS' Katie Couric.

Alaska airspace has been intruded by Russian aircraft 16 times this year alone. Palin has already answered the 3 o'clock phone call that Hllary and Obama were fighting over.
I would have to say that if Palin's qualification for the VP job are so weak......then Hillary Clinton, Nancy Polosi......are just as weak or weaker.
Nancy Polosi today is number three in line for the Presidency. No one seen to be overly concerned about that. We have seen how Presidential this week that Nancy Polosi is. She helped to kill the bailout that her party had attempted for a week to put together.
Hillary Clinton has not figured out if snipers are shooting at her. One of those little things that you like to have a Commander in Chief be able to do.
We had some 18 million voter support Hillary for the Presidency. And her qualifications for it......as a two time Senator.....with out executive expereince, without military expereince, without any significant foreign policy expereince.....and again no one is seemed overly concerned about it.
So how many feel Sarah Palin is a stronger VP than Nancy Polosi and Hillary Clinton?
Sounds to me like a good reason for the first o ne to fail in the House. All legislation that is over 15 pages in length, has loop holes, special coniditions, earmarks and other provisions that should not be there.
Look at the legislation written by our forefathers sometime.
It was sharp and crisp. To the point and the situation.
They did not dice it up with a lot of words that made it hard to interpret.
But today's Congress....when they present to us is saying.....
This highly complex......took hours of negotiations.....through research was done.....and then when it is presented, it is a bill....that 200 pages long...with fine print that you need a magnifying glass to read.
If you wish a big reason why Washington is borken there it is. The agencies that put the bill into a effect......now have 200 pages of complex regulations to enforce and to intrepret. Most of the senior SES of an agency time.....is doing just that....trying to make his department meet the legislation reg it operates under.
Are things complex.....sure not saying that they are not. But why make the laws that the country lives under so complex it takes a battrey of PhD types, attroneys, and or technilal specialist to achieve that?
I have wandered off point...sorry ......my feeling is that the economic redo....whether is loans, creditlines, insurance program, or bailout....needs to written simply and concise with easy language for all to understand. That way your oversight and transperency can work on it.
Any past real military leadership, there? Any drive on the geo-political scene to get as force reduction agreements done? Or missile reduction agreements done? Any executive office time?
His major positions is the he supports National Health Care and voted against the Iraq war. The rest is pretty blah.
Yet he has been in the Senate longer than McCain. But we only hear from him when there is a Presidential election occurring.
Like Palin, he would only a heart beat away. Even young men die. Just not as likely or probable.
So do you want an inexpereinced President with a VP that is partiallly qualified? Or do you want a experienced President with a VP that is partially qualified?
Both Pain and Biden have partial qualifications for the VP position.

You know well the justice systems works on one's acts. Agreed those in these "Christian' organization (often cults by the way) have committed 'acts' of terrorism should be arrested and tried. These organizations are for the most part within the country.
Where as with the 2 b Moslems in the world, they live outside the country and its jurisdiction. The terrorist have shown a ability and desire to kill Moslems in this conflict many times. Just because the Moslem of NYC on 9/11 were apalled by what had occurred, does the Moslem body as a whole get to become innocent ? This is the same body that often has allowed terrorists to live within, to aid and abet them, to hide them, and to take joy on when Jew, Christian, non believer, or yes even Moslem has be struck down for Jahid.

Why does el-Jazzerra the Moslem news agency show IED attack, after IED attack, after IED attack......because they know that such programing is only to welcome in the Moslem world. Read some of the Moslem online newssites. I have. Did the week after 9/11. I saw story after story of fabrication, misconception and hate. I saw only a few that were of a nature that were ackownledging the act as violent, Moslem lead, and criminal.
We have Moslem charity organzations and Mosque acting as fund raisers of terrorist groups. Here the giving of many is being used as a means to aid and abet the few that would kill. You say they don't know where their funds go. They know the people that they give it too. They know what they stand for. They know what they profess in Mosque. They know. If they don't, they should be responsible enough to find out.
In Iraq and elsewhere, the Mosque often becomes to place where large weapons caches are. They literally will place the weapons and explosives under the ground floor of the Mosque in basement rooms and then pray over them.
The many in Iran allow President Amherdinejad, to speak the way he does. They vote him into office, yes? Well ageed the election is little strange in its process. But they don't publically denounce the things he says. A western leader saying those things would recieve so much public criticism, he would know his days in office were numbered.
The many in the Moslem Mosque allow radical clerics to speak they way they do. We have the example of Rev Wright here and the Branch Divadain leader, the many allowed them to speak and have the platform to speak from. But the platform can be removed if the many refuse to listen.
I think that terrorism is an act of a few. But that one the many allows go on. So if that many is the Moslems of the world....some of that brush can be correctly applied.
So while NYC Moslems that day acted with the same horror of other Americans to the events. That doesnot give many in the Moslem world a moral high ground position of innocence to aiding and abetting terrorism.

Here is the deal about AlQaeda that people need to pick up. AlQeada is a composite organization. Meaning Suadi, Sunni, Shia, Kurd, Chechna, Syrian, Palestine......all can belong to it. That is why the two American converts can be part of it.
Why when in Ahganistan.....the Taliban did not incorporate AlQeada into their group. The Taliban are enthnic Afhgans......did not like having foreign Moslems in the country.
That composition of AlQeada is what make them dangerous. Means that they have contacts and operations in most Islamic countries. Can operate just about anyplace.
When Obama....says.....we will chase and find bin Laden in Pakistan's NW terroristories. When he says AlQeada has reconsituted itself and is more dangerous than ever. I listen for a Commander in Chief's opinion on how do we go into these foreign countries to engage AlQeada in them, from Obama. But what I have heard so far is......... that I would be tipping my hand.
After pressing GWB on a public timeline for withdrawl from Iraq.....now Obama cannot publically tells us how he is going to engage AlQeada? Maybe he has answer.....but my instincts are saying other wise.
That they (the European banks) are failing so quickly to our financial crisis.....tells me that they already had a liquidity and solvency problem. That they were making bad loans or not investing well. So I am not ready to say that they are connected.
There is a percentage of banks that fail around the globe annually. Last year number was around 250 if I remember right. That 4 or 5 a week. Banking is a competitive industry. Most of the time, it is smaller banks....where now it some long time and big firms that are failing.
I do know that they have to change the 'wording of the financial instruments' on this for it suceed to gain popular support with the American people. A government can create any kind of financial instrument that it wants to. This time they choose this term of 'bailout'...which is horrible.....reminds people of golden parachutes for executice......and free lunch for business failure.
All the DEM leadership in the house voted against the bailout.Except Polosi. DEM leaderhip of committee is made by the majority whip (Polisi). When the Freshmen DEMs saw that leadership was voting against the bailout, was a signal that they could as well...without any reprecussions.
McCain rejects the use of earmarks on a ethnical reason reason. Consider them a unfair practice. No competition to their being awarded and is at the discretion of the ofice holder. No or little oversight to them.

Earmark are a lousey institution. Obama took $932m of them The average was $7.5m........maybe time to check where and who pocket that they went to.
Sky says that they are all to hospitals, education and such. If I remember Michelle Obama got a nice pay raise of 100% after her hospital was awarded an earmark.
So even if they purpose is noble or a good one....still does not mean that some corruption did not occur in the award.
Washington agencies have contracting websites. Where the bids for gov't need goods and service are placed. Billions and billions go thru these sites in transperant, competitive and regulated contract awards. Much more than the $30b in the Congressional earmarks. All you do is shift the earmarks to a gov't agency acquistion program......and you got it done.
But the Congressman want thier cake and eat it too. They awant to be able to award earmarks back in the district...to get votes. To influence donations. That is both unfair and corrupt.
The plan was not structured or termed correctly to succeed, I agree there. They met massive opposition from the people to support it.
Dude...if we lose our financial firms they will loose their homes anyways. As the banks go insolvent, people lose thier accounts to pay taxes, to cover household expenses, eventually the gov't will take the house for back taxes.
At least that is what happened in the great depression. Though the banks fail.....the gov't is there...to force the foreclosers and evictions.
So? As I said in the other thread......the people need to understand that if the banks fail....it is like commiting economic hari kari for the people.
This effects you too, Dude. 2 banks failed in Europe today. 2 in the US failed as well. The market in Japan is opening and falling like a rock....expect banks in Asia to begin to fail soon.
Try this....all the Polosi committee leaders in the house....that she placed into the position. Voted against the bailout. Was a signal to the freshmen DEMs in the house to vote against it was OK....that nothing bad was going to happen to them if they voted against it.
