I watched a report on Iraq today from Sadr city in Baghdad. During the militia violence there, a lot of the locals had houses and business shelled and damaged.
So know what they have going on?
They have a special joint Iraqi and US Army, reparation office..to settle claims with those that lost properties. The military kept track of where all our large caliber munitions were fired. Ain't computers something.
People will bring their photos of damaged buildings, homes and business in then. Give them a address...the guy looks at the map were the munitions were impacted. And signs off on a claim. They are even signing off on a lot damaged caused by the militias.
A Iraqi PA then will go to the site or will review the claim. He signs off. They get the money for the claim to rebuild.
That is always an option. But suspect the old guy likes to do his own battles. Besides.......John McCain only need to place issues out there.... Obama is tied up because of his enviromental buddies in the far left. Obama has only one answer to ever one of the energy issue.....NO.

Florida has more offshore oil than CA. And I suspect the state would support it, if place as a referendom vote in Nov. Tampa would be a great port to support the offshore operations from.....better than either...LA or SF.
They placed a cross state pipeline from Tampa to the Cape Canveral port a few years ago so you can pick up by Tanker on the East Coast. And not transit all the way around the State,
We are ready for this. The platforms just need to be far enough from the shore so that they are out of sight......200 miles or so.
Besides the employment......we can get a oil refinery or two from the deal.....and then cut the transit cost from our fuel prices here. State picks up....revenues from taxes, wages, and construction of refineries.

Florida has plans for a nuclear plant as well. Get this.....one of my relatives own the acreage that they are considering placing it on.
I have been talking with some local farmer and land guys about the Jatrophe. Meaning that we can have a bio deisel from the refinery and further reduce the cost for fuel for heavy equipment. They already have a Jatropha processing plant. And a nursery with 1m seedlings.
My locals are talking a 60 acre nursery operation. That is lot of seedling......maybe in the neigborhood of 5 million plantings. Jatropha becomes profitable in 3 years. And works well with our sandy soils.
Our citrus people will dual crop with their young citrus. State has a program for 1500 jatropha grower to be trained in the nest couple of years.

The more people you deploy to a conflict area, the more targets you make. The more your casualities are. Hence we try to fight with proper force levels.

That was a concentrated force of 600 Taliban. A large force size for them. If we can clear 600 out in 3 days....why make deployments of large numbers to the country? The only way they get teh country back is make such concentrations stick and stay. They have not showed the ability to stay with our fire power.

I was a independant when the Clinton Administration got into that little shooting war in Kosovo. And I did my part for the 45 days it went on. When it was over, I was happy and said...hey this is win for America and democracy...that we were keeping alot Moslem Kosovan alive.

I think that you have to take each country, differently. The issue that Kim and North Korea is a different set of problems than Iraq. North Korea....korean war...dmz....nuclear proliferator going thru Dr. Khan of Pakistan.....ceasefire and truce but still technically at war...solid ally in S. Korea. Vastly different than Sadam, Iraq and AlQeada connections.
It like saying one set of policies matrix.....will work for every country situation. But they are vastly different. simply by geography, players, events, threats.
North Korea never got a long range missile with range to reach the US. Even though it had nucs...and only a few....they were not a direct threat to the US.

Also this food and fuel. Food is needed there now. But it take time to build up a fuel reserve for winter weather.....so easing the sanctions makes sense as well. So loosen the sanctions and keep some people alive is what happened I think.
So what I have you saying here is...that though North Korea has now given a complete disclosure to it nuclear activities to the group 6. They are sending that to China now. And is tearing down the cooling towers at thier nuclear reactors making them ineffective. That they party of 6 sanctions were effective in bringing this about. That with several million north Korean starving and living in hard conditions.

I wonder if Obama knew that during WWII and prior to Pearl Harbor. That Japan was getting intelligence on the fleet at Pearl Harbor from the local Japanese tha tlived in Hawii.
They were so precise in the intelligence provided....that the prior to leaving Japan....the Japan Naval pilot practice bombing runs over Pearl Harbor on what is a called 'sand board'. This 'sand board' had a full layout of the harbor and all the ships docking precisely laid out. This gave the aircrews 100s of practice runs to thier assigned targets.

Nader has been around longer than dirt. In fact some of his first environmental complaints were about ground pollution. He was a major player in get the cleanup of many pollutions sites. Trying to remember the bill name...the supercleanup, I think . Then he did car safety and seat belts. Got legislation for that. Many reasons why we wear seat belt today, is R. Nader. Don't under estimate him, Dude. He calls a press conference and the major media will show. After today, more will show.

You asked a question earlier in the thread to America's Moslem fear. yes? I answered by showing that there were very few hate crimes directed at Moslems post 9/11. If there was a general fear or anger of American to Moslems, these figures would be much higher in a country of 300m and with some 10m Moslems.
Obama religion does play a role in our due diligence of his candidancy. I might examine it differently than others. But here are some of my questions. Is it a example of his steadfast commitment of others? It is a solid declaration of faith in God? What role do others play in it?
It is this later, where Rev. Wright enters the picture. Here we now know of a long 20 year relationship with a man that is considered a leader in a theology called Black Liberation Theology. Not your traditional Christian church setting or theology.
This long relationship shows a bad judgement, show his inablity to sever from a man that hates the country and the Constitution, and that Obama would keep such a relationship to his own harm.
This is not an attack on his faith or his religion...rather is a evaulation of his associations made and kept during his 20 years as a member of this extreme Church. Why?
Because if made President, those relationships go with him into the office. Rev. Wright was on a advisory board for his Presidential run. This kind of inspection of a canidate's associations goes a long way back in our countries history. President Lincoln had to address it in regards to John Brown in 1863. So Obama is not alone in this.
Religion is part of American society and a key fabric in it. To divest it from a man or his run from office....is like saying.....well I look only at his right side.....not his left or back or front. But only his right side. If you don't bring religion into a due diligence of a canidate...you don't see the complete man.
Now Obama has just recent gotten into trouble with a Christian Evangelist....Rev. Dobson....who is saying he twists the Bible to suit his views on the world and events. Can a man that is Christian not use his faith and knowledge of the Bible, to evaulate a canididate? You have supressed alot Constitutional freedoms.....here if you say no. Freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of press.....just running for office of Presidency does not put you above either the political fray or the from the inspection of the people of the country. jmo
Mike can you imagine what the feeling within the coutry to Moslems was post 9/11? Yet that entire year following that event......there were a total of some 200 hate crimes in the US against Moslems. The year after that it was 116. And has remained there since.
Americans are not Islamicphobic.<I just made a new word...sign me up for the new Webster dictionary> We fully realize that this GWOT is against a smaller minority of the Islamic world. But it is a growing number of that world.
What we can not grasp...is why this vast majority of moderate and peace loving Islamic people cannot vet these terrorist from their mids. Bring them to justice and solve this conflict before it gets worse.
