I read Franks books on it. He said that his left flank drive would get hit and run attacks from the Iraqi town and villages. After the hit and run they would go back to the town/cities Mosque to rearm and regroup.
They would pre target the Mosques so that about 15-20 minutes of a hit and run strike they were laying in artelliery on it. He said they caught a lot of them all long the drive. They never changed their point of departure/collection.

Was back in California after basic ended. And was assigned to a OSUT unit.....One Station Unit Training. Basically a cadre of training in NCOs with a officers in charge.
We get a new LT. Col. to head the unit. A West Pointer. Spit, polish and shine kind of guy. So he is running the unit for about 4 months....and we never see him. We start to call him Col Vanish....he is never there.
So we are to have a long weekend in the Serria Madre mountains. Field work and our annual PT test. Part of which is a 5 mile run. So they measure off a 5 mile course with a car, thru the rolling hills on the dirt road. They come back and say to the runner.....every time you get to a fork in the road....go to the right.
So they break us into three groups.....enlisted, officers, and NCO. I am in the last group and Col Vanish is in the middle group. All three groups begin the run. With a minute between them. I am running with a former Marine Gunny Sargeant from Vet Nam and a few other ncos.
We pass a few forks always bearing to the right. We come to this fork.....look down the left lane.....here comes Col. Vanish and 3 officers back tracking to the course. This is what they call a delicate moment in the military. The old Gunny sargeant realises this is a military moment of a certain complexity. The gunny never breaks stride.....he renders a salute and says to the group of officers.....and to Col Vanish.....
"Looking for lost enlisted that have taken the wrong fork, sir?"
Col. Vanish kind of has this look on his face like he has just been caught in a cat house on a Saturady night. Salutes back.....says "That is right, Sargeant....we thought some enlisted might have made a wrong turn here."
I am about pee my shorts trying to keep from laughing. This Col Vanish could not figure out his right from his left on a 5 mile jog and had gotten lost on the run. He was to lead us into Germany to go up against the Russians. I am trying to imagine what that would be like this point. If he has a hard time with his bearings on a 5 mile run, what the woods of Germany would be like.

Here is a man that made $4million dollar last year, had the best of American College educations, is a sitting Senator and is running for President of America.....saying to college grads.....take that job in your community that pays $10-35 per hour so you can avoid the improvishment of being prosperous.
I know Obama is talking of the spiritual aspects of prosperity. That money can corrupt. But so can power. It seems hypocritical to me...to ask say a college grad with say a master degree in international finance not to take the $100K per year job. He just made $4 million last year.
Cannot you make the $100K and still give to the community? Obama's did...they gave a substantial amount to their church and community in donations. Cannot you make a $100K and still coach the local kids baseball team? Sure you can. Cannot you make $100K per year and still give time to a social service program? Sure you can.

I once shot a 3 round 3/4 inch group at 300 yards without optics. Remington bolt action 223....the best shooting I ever did.
Ever shot the movement range at Ft. Benning? What a range. Targets pop up and move on tracks. Some are standing 2/3 size and others are crawling head shoots. Most of them are moving. You start at 250 yards just like engaging targets in defending an attack. Then work closer to 25 yards. Three clips. Several rounds for each target. If you ever get a chance do shoot it.
To score high the trick is to fire in front the target. The impact kick rocks up into the target that are computer recorded hits. Computer does not know the difference between a peeples or a round. Once we learned that it was easy to score high.
I watched a guy go nuts here. He was to fire downrange with a M-16. He turns the weapon to the firing line to shoot at one his drill instructors. A course instructor saw him turn the gun to the drill. Just as he pulling off the first round, the instructor is knocking the gun down as he jumbed into the pit with him. 4 rounds zipped the at the Drill and hit short of him in the ground by about 20-30 feet. Article 25 (felony charge), attempted murder, dishonorable discharge, and 20 to life in Leavenworth all in about 4 second time for the guy.
No, by that time the anti war movement here was pretty strong. The Gov't considered it for a time. They could have prosecuted her 'under aiding and abetting an enemy during war time'. But Vet Nam was a 'police action'. Not a declared war. So would have gotten into legalize court games and more exposure for Jane. So Gov't dropped it.

Here is what happened. It did not happen in combat. I was going thru a divorce. Suspect it was a friend of hers. But not enough proof of that to even press a case.
Who ever was a amatuer. I so far out in the open, that a pro would have had an easy shot. I was at rifle range early morning in California. Alone sighting in a rifle at 100 yards. I had fired my first group of 5 rounds. I did not have any optics so had to walk down range to check the group. So opened the bolt of the rilfe and carried it without rounds to the target. (Range Rules) Had checked the group and was walking back to fire the next 5.
I heard the round pass my head. I was 50 yard from the cover of the firing point. Right in the open. Some rounds are sub sonic and others are sonic. This one was sonic when it went by. I heard the 'crack' as it went by. The range was surrounded on three sides by hills with woods. I had heard the report of the weapon but with the hills it echoed. I did not get a good line to it. I looked for smoke trace of a firing, but could not see anything in woods. I was really exposed and my rounds were at the firing point. Figured that if I reacted with a run, he would shoot again. I walked the 50 yard to the firing point like nothing happened. Heart pounding like it a life of its own.
Maybe who ever was just trying to scare me (divorce). But with the round was within a few feet from my head for me to hear it sonic. Close enough for me to consider it something else.
This was 28 years ago. You get shot at.....you remember the details of it like it was yesterday.
