americans are in large apathetic, and busy trying to survive finanially and some are distracted by getting "more stuff" they justify their apathy and it is apparent if you notice the sad percentage of americans with this beautiful right they have to vote, which they love to brag about but dont actually take the action to vote
its a sad state of affairs when a society is so distracted and downtrodden that they dont take advantage of such a blessing
look it up last 4 elections the percentage of voters to the population yet people wanna stand around and monday morning quarterback when they dont even get their butts off the bench to vote
as an american i am ashamed. and there is nothing despicabe about crying out for change in your own country when things have gotten of track that was initially what we were about by and for the people but if only a few people are making decisions the mass has no right to complain about the outcome

as far as it being a deterrent? no way the average criminal thinks they will get away w/ the crime or in violent cases it was an accident/moment of emotional insanity so the thot of the possibility of the death penalty isnt a factor
