Had they had a gun in the house, there is no guarantee it would have helped them. Often home/business owners with guns end up having those guns turned on themselves. I think arming America is closing the barn door after the horses have gotten out (it is horses? terrible at cliches). Point is, it is a problem that needs to be dealt with from the inside, not from the outside....we need to deal with the causes of violence in our society....not meet violence with more violence. It is the same as any war, if you fight back with violence, it just escalates it...and this is a war that will continue to escalate without a winner...there is no end in sight.
I need to stop. Not coming back to this thread. I find this argument pointless. Circular....never ending. Sorry.
Ain't nothing to say man...just don't think it is necessary. Read my earlier post. I know what it is like to be a 'victim' of violence.....Primarilly one needs to act in a way that does not bring violence into one's life. Baring that, not much else to do. I think the gun culture creates more violence and that it doesn't prevent violence. I have lived in several other countries in the world, not just Europe, where there is gun control. I believe the right to bear arms is an archiac notion based on the situation at the time of the forming of the United States and the Continental Congress. The concept does not apply now.
My opinions are diametrically opposed to those who believe in guns, and I am sick and tired of trying to explain and defend them.
So, really, don't want to discuss it or argue it. Nothing to be gained. Goes in circles. Diametrically opposed visions.
It wouldn't appear that way based on the posts here, I believe a whole lot more people in America DO NOT have guns than do.
I knew very few who did. Because I grew up in a sort of red-neck family, the men had hunting rifles, but that's a different thing. They were put away and only used once a year to go hunting. Hand guns, etc. I've have known and met very few people who kept such things in their homes.
Like I said......but, you just don't get it....and you are really not worth the trouble trying to explain....
Plenty of men here and in the real world with great minds, hearts and souls who don't agree necessarily agree with me...but, they do need to have thoughts and opinions based on something other than the empty ringing between their ears.....
