Two friends are fishing near a bridge. Suddenly a Hearse and two Funeral Cars go over the bridge so one of the men stands up, takes off his cap and bows his head. When the cars have gone he puts his cap back on, sits back down and carries on fishing. His mate turns to him and says, " Dave, that's one of the nicest most respectful things I've ever seen " Dave replies, " Well we were married for nearly 20 years "
I'm not sure how true that is. Although the fact remains, Morrissey tickets sell out quicker than any other performers, and have done for quite some time.
But there is no doubting Johnny Marr's pure genius...
How many a year has passed and gone Many a gamble has been lost and won And many a road taken by many a first friend And each one I've never seen again.
I wish, I wish, I wish in vain That we could sit simply in that room again Ten thousand dollars at the drop of a hat I'd give it all gladly if our lives could be like that.
Many musicians, Jimmy Page included, have been quoted saying Roy Harper is one of the best singer songwriters to come out of the UK. Funny thing is, most people have never heard of him, but most people have heard him singing without realising it.
I remember hearing a radio interview with Jeff Lynne many years ago. He was talking about his time with The Traveling Wilburys. He recalled when someone mentioned the phrase "Tweeter and the Monkey Man." He said Dylan commented that would be a good title for a song and within no time at all, on the spot, he wrote and sung the song. Lynne said, from that moment onwards I realised Dylan is a true genius.
