When it comes to the part about combined house hold costs that would be a problem since I lost half of my income.

Good question's my Daughter works part time & is also in College. My EX is allowed to work as far as does she want to I really don't know. She had a job with the government for 16yrs at $21 Hr. If I were to finally find someone this is not an issue I would try to hide. Thanks for the flowers young lady.
Hi Kennn thanks for your thoughts.Yes that's the ruling, if the spouse receiving support takes a job or remarries the court will make a ruling. So why weren't you allowed to claim what you paid out, because it was a lump sum?

Revenge isn't sweet as some say. What can it accomplish? Sure it may make some feel they have the upper hand or that they got the last word in but how long does it really last?
In my case it's not so much revenge as one of life's lessons. In her case after walking away from a 24yr marriage i've heard she has said to others, maybe things weren't as bad as she thought. after being divorced for almost 2yrs, she's finding out despite a few differences we had. Life out there now isn't as simple as when we met.I blame it all on the Internet & how it's altered our lives.
