I've found that after my failed long term relationship, I had trouble getting used to being on my own and was willing to lower my standards. Two years down the line I'm used to being single and have gone back to my original standards. Do you get pickier in time or settle for a compromise?

Definately pickier but not about looks or status, just simple things like character and values... Its soooooooo hard
I guess I'm looking for Jesus for his character, compassion, tolerance and love and James Dean for his bad boy, mischevious, spontaneous, exciting, non monotonous lifestyle

I bet it depends on how you can define the word standard. Some people are changing over the time and the standard might be different from the previous one they have.
Am I picky? I think at some extend I am. I have "picked" my man according to my "standards" which were, in reality, not the same like my previous "level" I had. Whenever standard that one may have, as long as it brings more happiness, then the standard wouldn't be an issue again :-)

I don't think I've dropped my standards, in fact, if anything, I tolerate far less crap than I used to. I'm happier to be single until someone who makes me really happy comes along. Who I thought I wanted and was suited to has changed a lot though.
I used to go for the strong silent types who kept me guessing and seemed very manly and stoic. I've found that the guys I'm better suited to are the guys who talk as much as I do and don't play head games.
If I've learned anything at all, it's that men still have the ability to surprise me and that I can surprise myself by what I end up feeling for them. My 'type' has changed.
