RE: Slapping !

I'm guessing they have learned the boundaries, and they respect you enough not to overstep the mark..but sometimes I think it takes a lil bit of that discipline to teach them exactly where that begins and ends, tho confiscating their stuff sounds pretty good too lol

in my parents defence when we were growing there was no one to tell our parents when to stop and it was how they were brought up...they didn't have tv or radio with debates on the morals of slapping...they just did what their parents diddunno

I've no kids so I can't judge someone on their methods of discipline but at least parents now know, that their is a name for when the go overboard and its completely wrong...

and thanks needed the hug Libragrin

RE: Slapping !

looks like a big division of opinion on this one, I grew up in a big family, 11 of us in all, and we were genuinely murdered if we did anything wrong, from wooden spoon(ok) daddy's belt (rough) and I don't know if ye ever heard of a switch, it was a really bendy branch from a tree which made an awful swish noise as it flew at ya(cruel) but hey we all lived, but a lot of the time in fear of my dad,

As bad as that was I wouldn't be completely against a slap to a bold child but nothing remotely near to what we got, I think a lil fear isn't a bad thing, I think its easy to say you'd never do it until your in that situation that you have tried everything and are at the end of your tether. But sometimes a lil fear instils a lil respect...but I do think its a very last resort

that's my two pence worthteddybear
