A few years back a few of us did it to stop the gorse taking over the mountain, more gorse = less grass for sheep, I have some sheep back home so I suppose you could say I am a farmer and I can assure you I know lots about shrubs and trees, I studied Horticulture at college and who is bragging about what?
I said sometimes it was necessary to burn gorse, what do you suggest people do instead? let it take over their land?
There are no police in this country, we have gardai or do you not know that? Sur if they want me they can come get me

Whenever I burnt gorse it was the side of a mountain, too steep to build houses on so no homes could have been burnt because there was none

to me its a weed, a nasty weed that grows very quickly and colonises areas very quickly, Thats why I hate it
When it flowers its a beautiful shrub but thats about all I find good about it
