I believe in the concept of love, but my question is "What is Love" having 2 broken engagements and a marriage - I really lost sight of what love is ...all the things that your parents, grandparents and greatparents have taught me about love says it is there, you have to believe, well I stopped believing, because I no longer trust - and the sad thing is not that I don't trust relationships I don't trust my judgment... so maybe the idea of arranged marriages may have some merrit....


I agree...I was saying that I believe more in 'care' than 'love'...I think Hollywood has set an unreasonable standard and if we look back YEARS ago - like 200 years ago it was really about women had babies and did a lot of everything else - and the men were the protectors and hopefully to some degree - providers. What seems to be more prevalent these days is how independent we can be...rather than helpful and caring. It kind of goes back to the action - if you show that you care - and by that I mean - being there for your kids (if you have them) or for your friends/family - and be respectful you've got something special in your life. The concept of 'romantic love' is great onscreen - it just doesn't seem to translate...darn that Walt Disney anyways!!!

It's so true...I have a book called "the sociopath nextdoor" - excellent read...it's not a self help book but this woman writes from a clinical perspective - and it is great at helping people understand how TRULY warped and as you say "permanently broken" they are...most of them are leaders!!! uh huh - SCARY!!!
Narcissists...there is more and more literature coming out because it's like we are breeding people to be like this...power hungry - and it can be a leader of a country or a leader of the local community organization. There are those that want to EMPOWER and those who want POWER.
