The only thing that stopped us was the price of the detonator.
If it came to a nuclear war it won't be just one or two A bombs it would be more like 20 to 30. the bunker you build could not possibly hold enough food and air for the next 20 years.
The A bomb is designed to realise as much energy in the shortest time possible, thus the radio active material dissipates into the atmosphere, leaving only low level radiation.
The more people we have in the world the more weirdos it breeds.
