RE: Queensland Elections Tomorrow

I simply think its wrong creating a perception without any research.

One- the infrastructure cannot accommodate more people that are already here including visitors. Two illegal immigration , usually means the people who come here cannot be verified if they have had any criminal past. Three most that come here have no knowledge of the lingo and end up working in sweatshops for less than five dollars an hour.

Now show me some proof of your claims… oh please entertain me where you would have got your information from laugh

RE: Teaching Boys to be Men

Every child needs a father is a phrase heard often enough, but is there any evidence to support it? In this enlightening documentary, child psychologist Laverne Antrobus goes on a quest to discover why a dad’s relationship with his offspring is so important. She uncovers fascinating new research which is shedding light onto the science of fatherhood.

Laverne meets a new dad who is experiencing Couvade Syndrome, a condition sometimes known as sympathetic pregnancy. She is keen to explore if the symptoms – which are similar to those felt by pregnant women, such as nausea and sickness – might be physiological as well as psychological. The dad takes a blood test shortly after the birth of his third child and Antrobus discovers that hormones could be the cause of his symptoms: possibly nature’s way of priming him to become a more nurturing father.

Laverne then meets one of the UK’s leading experts in the father’s role within the family. While observing father and toddler play in his lab, she finds out how the rough-and-tumble play they witness is classic dad behavior. It is believed that this type of fatherly play is essential in teaching toddlers the boundaries of aggression and discipline.

In the final investigation, Antrobus looks into recent research which claims that men who have a good relationship with their daughters can influence the kind of husband the daughters choose. The study also found that girls whose fathers were absent during their formative years tend to reach puberty sooner and age quicker. Laverne recruits a team of married women to take part in one final, fascinating experiment.

RE: Teaching Boys to be Men

Teaching boys to me men? Or lets brag about how good our kids are? laugh

I think self independence is a good thing, for both male and female. This is why I would recommend two year national service for both, at least part time.

I read in one of the topics earlier abut chivalry and should young people standing up for an elderly person on trains busses ..etc For me it would depend on what time of the day it was. See, pensioners are quite ignorant despite their age. They leave to go on their daily outings just after the rush hour and come back at the same time as tired working class go home. So should an 18, 25 year old stand up for an hour for these nuisance passengers? Hell no!!! after 10 hours at work, Im pretty sure young people get just as tired and they have earned their rest same as everybody else… JMO.

RE: LIFE...

So when do you think one should add salt and paper- in the beginning, half way through or right at the end? grin wave

RE: Sharia Law

Hi Merri

More than one law works well amongst the same people, like in Indonesia amongst Indonesians who are Christian and Muslim. In Australia where we are not of the same race, it would be quite suicidal to even entertain the idea.

I wonder how the other societies would react to public lashing, hanging or burning women alive for having intuition?
