I come across this Author “Amos Oz” that is absolutely giving me a head spin. What a wonderful Author what views, what a person. Is anybody familiar with he’s work, is there anyone else you guys can recommend that has completely spun your vies 360 degrees?

I love reading and the type often depends on the mood I am in. Just finished "A Thousand Splendid Suns" by Khaled Hosseini, set in Afghanistan. Before that, it was "two for the road" by Amanda Hampson.

Also reading at the moment "Mawson" by Peter Fitzsimons (who also wrote "Batavia"), "Target Area" by John Binning (written in 1943 while serving in a gun battery on Darwin Airfield).

I might pick up a Geoffery Archer or a Wilbur Smith next. Or maybe try to finish "Crossing the Dead Heart" by Cecil Madigan (very dry book). Or even try the Trudi Canavan or Ian Irvine books my son passed along to me.

There is so much out there in books that it is the variety I enjoy. I envy Daggyone having the bookstore where his choice is unlimited every day.

For me Terry Pratchett is a showstopper - his books are set on the Discworld which floats around space atop four elephants standing on the back of a turtle. I have read and reread his books so many times I feel like the characters are close friends....well, actually they are now.

I can really identify with that... characters from books being almost real... I do that with Henry Lawsons characters...

Gets the imagination going really well. wave

Hi, I really enjoyed The Five People You Meet In Heaven, by Mitch Ablom. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is just so not your run of the mill story. It was great and I would recommend it to all!

Love Henry Lawson too and I have most of his works. My favourite is a compilation of his poetry.

I am really into biographies and autobiographies, can't read anything sci-fi just leaves me cold!

Recently read "Hannah's Choice" the true story of a brave girl who had a heart condition for years, chose not to have a transplant - her last chance, then changed her mind. The journey for she and her family had me on the edge of my seat.

I had to follow that with something light hearted and in a second hand bookshop I picked up "Bridget Jones Diary" which was hilarious as in the movie.

At the moment I am reading the Memoir of Nuala O'Faolain, an Irish female journalist.

Sara Henderson is one of my favourite authors, she of Bullo Station. A peek into a wildly different life.

wave thumbs up

You should try my Daughters book its the story of her life, accident and how she came through.
She co wrote it and your library should have it or get it in for you.
Everyone said they couldn't put it down.

Just try it and see what you think.
dunno
