AgentAjax: I know this has been done before by beautiful Venere the yummy mummy I come across this Author “Amos Oz” that is absolutely giving me a head spin. What a wonderful Author what views, what a person. Is anybody familiar with he’s work, is there anyone else you guys can recommend that has completely spun your vies 360 degrees?

At high school they could only get me to read Footrots Flats and Astrix! I refused to read crap books that were depressing or had no point to them,

The kid was complaining the other day that most off the books she has too read at school in year 12 have suicide or other self harm involved?

What the hell is our education departments trying too do, kill our kids or turn them into depressed people, that think about killing themselves?

The last thing I want is an adolescent going through puberty and pier group pressure and boyfriends doing is reading books on suicidal teenagers? As home work!

The worlds just gone mad!

I feel so sorry for these cottonwool kids that will someday have to face life as an adult and fail at every attempt

wysterious1: For me Terry Pratchett is a showstopper - his books are set on the Discworld which floats around space atop four elephants standing on the back of a turtle. I have read and reread his books so many times I feel like the characters are close friends....well, actually they are now.

Love his way with words and the way he twists them around......as to his characters coming to life, I have a close friend that is granny Weatherwax to a T...wine

His books are funny and an easy read ..ideal if you cant devote hours every day to reading

AgentAjax: You guys are amazing with such a wide range of interest except for Faithe

I think I spent too much of my time reading about religion, science, philosophy ..that kind of stuff, I’ve never found anything interesting enough to venture out up until recently.and Venere my dear it must be a woman’s thing to start 10 books at once. By all means people give me some names of authors and your opinions on their content would be great.

laugh I've read them all except for Tender Morsels, and only a few pages into that one. The narrator's voice is very different to the others, so it's been a bit of a trudge but I'm assured that it will become weird and wonderful, with 'magicked bears' 'n all.

I received my 2 academic books from amaizon today, one has print so tiny, they should have included a magnifying glass with the book. Why do publishers do that? I know they wouldn't do it to a Steohen King novel.mumbling

I spent many years delving into the many tomes of the various religious and "life" books to come to the realisation that many of us know deep down what we really know. Sometimes we pick up these tomes and rejoice in this as this is what we have always thought. "Hallyberry" or whatever the word is. We have someone who tells us what we have always believed and we must be right.

I have delved into fiction and non-fiction. Great escapism and I have very muched enjoyed this pastime over the years. Seems that I do still have a lot to learn about real life but I enjoy reading all the same.
