And good old fashion values.

I think those things have gone down the gurgler for the most part and most children don't seem to have those values instilled in them these days either confused

Only today I mentioned to a colleague that a young child who was shopping with his Mum said 'Excuse me' as he wanted to ask a question and I honestly think that's the first time I have heard that from a child in years.

Most yell over the top of their parents (and me while I'm presenting the sale) and it is accepted - the parents stop what they are doing, I stop what I'm saying, and they respond to the child without appearing to think that there's anything wrong with that.

then the guy yesterday running for his life down a sydney street with six hired gun slingers, who shot him in the back and murdered as he ran with a taza's.

No wonder people are importing pistols in NSW

well I just had a good example of it ...
I have a No Canvessers sign on my door, and just had a Foxtel door knocker knocking on the door...
I asked him if he seen the sign, he replied he did, but he still bloody knocked!

I politely told him good bye, but should have told him to piss off!
very mad

If you didn't have manners you probably would have laugh

Oh, I have 'invisible' days too, where people walk straight towards me and brush past without a word, with or without a shopping trolley, men barge in front of me through doors etc etc etc ....

Ahh today’s society is the result of our poor management, live and let live type of attitude. Society needs good leadership and that leadership starts with parenting.

Good parenting,

Have never had to smack any of my kids
Change to tone of my voice and they know I am serious, never yelled at them either
My girls turned out great, and my little man will follow in their footsteps

Some people say, kids run amuck because both parents have to work
What a load of crap.
I am single and have virtually bought up 3 kids by my self and worked and my darlings are fine.

Kids just need to know that they are loved and wanted

Allot of people associate good parenting by how big the disciplinary stick is. Sure fear works for a while but will fear prepare your children for what is up ahead… in my opinion No Way. So you have to spend time with them explaining, playing guiding, encouraging and the obvious one, acknowledging their good deeds with a hug a smile and words of encouragement. Adults like some type of acknowledgment for the good that we have done in our lives and children are no different. That can only arrive knowing that somebody is watching and appreciating your efforts.

In the end, our children will be the solo judge if we were good parents or not, by emotional attachment they share with us, once they themselves become adults.

Cat's in the Cradle is a song exactly about what we as parents come to realize too often and much too late. A farther has no time for his son and then the son has no time for his father. wine

I dont mind if people are forgetful sometimes of good manners... I think that maybe they might be having a bad day..sigh

But, I am well embarrassed by the amount of people who speak loudly on their mobile phones in lifts, at my reception counter, I mean, do I really want to hear their private conversation...NO

and I wonder if they are actually aware they are speaking loudly and want everyone in hearing distance to listen?

That to me is really bad manners, and I get it all the time.. out in the street, on the train, in the shopping centre... Jeez.. doh

I usually take my mobile with me every where have it on vibrate, and when I get a chance I call people back. I find people in doctors are so ignorant they talk on the phone even when their is a sign saying please switch off all mobile phones, but then again the staff do not in force this.

My youngest who lives with me is 16, we talk about everything, everyday, no subject is off limits,
By being honest with the kid over the years has brought us closer, there was a time when she wouldn’t speak to a shop keeper? But that was her Mum! Now she uses public transport and goes to the shops herself,

Its about teaching kids to become adults and not about stranger danger at every situation!

My kid at 14 when she moved in with me, would not speak to anybody unless they were family and I was present?

You have to get people out off the habit off putting kids in cotton wool until they turn 18, as by then its too late! For them to be functional members off society,

Turning 18 and never have made a decision on your own life is a bit sad? Then to be throw into the world with that is bad parenting! I had a mate that was left with this style off parenting and he was bankrupt at 20,

Teach your children well, or live with them forever!
