At least one school in Sydney has decided its Year Nine boys need a touch of civility drilled into them so St Augustine’s College has introduced classes which teach the teenagers how to iron, sew, make the bed, shake hands properly and who should pay for dinner on a first date. (excerpt from mamamia.com.au/news)

What do you think of this and is it something that could be introduced into more schools? wine

I don't know about sewing and making beds, maybe better if they taught them

* not to swear in public or in front of girls/ladies at least
* not to ever hit a girl EVER (RL players take note!)
* have respect for anyone in authority, teachers, police, your elders, you can disagree with what they say but do it in the right way??

* break up a fight - not egg them on
* have a little consideration for older people who were young once, especially when riding skateboards in public areas, make way for them on crowded pavements etc.

Just general good manners which seem to have disappeared almost today??

I was ironing my own shirts at nine and sewing the buttons on, as well as chopping the wood lighting the water heater, I even own a sewing machine now, and I know how too use it too! I have offered to teach the kid how too use it but she would rather use all my safety pins up?
I think most of these things should be taught at home but some kids just wont listen to their parents no matter what, I had a two weeks or four half hour classes at school in home-ecs and cooking, when I finished school I became a baker pastry cook for a few years as well as a machine operator,

Its amazing when you think about it how you can use what seams to be a simple device or machine, on just how it can prepare you for other things, other jobs?

When you buy socks , buy lots of the same . That way when one has a hole ,biff that one and keep his mate . Soon enough another one will be holed . Nothing worse than a darned sock .idea is this not why people say "darned this or darned that "

Our local opp shop could make a few $$$ out of your jar, if you're not going to use it, donate it to someone who will.

ok firstly everyone should be able to do all that and more its a bit of a no brainer really. Secondly if women wanted men to pay when you went out somewhere than why did you fight tooth and nail for equal rights??
