I have just read everybody's post and I like to add that no one has taken the time to consider learning disabilities as one of the reasons a person can have bad spelling.
Being in the mental health field/tutoring, I have seen what a combinations of disabilities can do to a person.
I will give a personal example on this one though, my son who is now an adult, still struggles with spelling, math, and correct puntuation. The reason for that is he has central auditory processing disoder and dyslexia. I'll will break it down, try sitting in a classroom and trying to keep up with processing what the teacher is saying, but not being able to keep up, because the processing part of your brain takes longer to recieve information, and then your dyslexia has made it difficult all your life to lear how to read, and later learn new words. Would some people consider my son unintelligent? Yes, the common everyday people that can judge by just looking at the outside.
Would he be intelligent in a IQ test, the answer to that is yes, he is very intelligent, and shows that through all his work, but not in a setting where he is rushed to comprehend something.
I could give more examples, but I just want to get my point across, just because someone makes many mistakes in grammar, puntuation, and paragraph does it mean that they are not worthy of attention, and most of all comprehension.
My son has been blessed to have met educated human beings that have taken the time to understand him and accept him, and I like to add he has incredible athlectic abilities, ability to detect errors in almost anytghing that does not have to do with language, and he also has a great group of friends.
And last, lets not forget that not everything is type into a computer, real life writing on a piece of paper does not have an automactic spell check.
Thank you, and I hope no one see's this as a personal attack on their judgement or intelligence.
Thanks everyone...I aready started the avast virus cleaner, and I am downloading the avast home edition.
I just hope I can stay online long enough for it to do it's job.
Thanks again, it took me a good 15 minutes or so to get back to this page, the computer shuts down, or gets frozen, or the web pages come up blank over and over again..
You guys are great...big hug... ...oh and a kiss for the Scotland hunk!
I recieved a computer virus last night through my Y..messenger, there was a link that said my friend was sending me pictures, when I try to open it, it did not open.
I need advice as to what anti-virus software to use....very quickly please or I will start going through CS and internet withdrawals!
I can't keep the computer on for longer than 30 minutes, it shuts down on me, and then I can not open anything back up.
You are welcome, I am glad that I could bring you a smile, and that everyone that read this thread was able to get something out of it.
I have spent my life surrounded by children, through my work, raising my son,now an adult, my little girl who is an inspiration to life and even raising some of my brothers and nieces, my life has been touched in a very special way.
I really believe my outlook on life would not be what it is today if I had not had all those little angels in my life.
There innocence and blunt honesty, can change even the dullest of hearts.
Thanks for reading, and I wish you all a great day/night.
The Most Caring Child Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child. The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his mother asked him what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said, "Nothing... I just helped him cry."
Erich Fromm: Infantile love follows the principle: "I love because I am loved." Mature love follows the principle: "I am loved because I love." Immature love says: "I love you because I need you." Mature love says: "I need you because I love you."
Is'nt that what real life relationships are? Many of us would not be single if the other person did not consider us disposable.
Some people have a multitude of relationships, why?... because they are trying to get it right...those with the multiple relationships are the ones doing the disposing, I guess they can have brains the size of a bean.
