Never have done the skiing in August thing. The Bluegrass Festival is always a good time. That and skiing (in the winter/spring) is the only time I've ever hung out there. Pretty much drove right past the spa either headed to the lifts or to points north.
Actually haven't been Telluride in a few years. I've heard that at this point it's about as pretentious as Vail or Aspen.
