Some groups charge a small gold coin something if you come along to the events. That's just to cover the fees for having a group there.

I've never had to pay anything for the ones I've been to, apart from drinks etc.

I think you would have a better chance of finding your way around here than me, I haven't driven in Brissy yet. No need to have a car living right in the city and parking at my units costs a bomb.

We haven't arranged eats, but you can get something there if you would like to. Might be an idea to book a table if you do as they have a few small dinner events that night. I was assured there will be room for our group as well.

This is one of the better Australian forums I've found, in terms of people getting along without aggression. I'm sure new people will keep coming in to add their say as time goes on.

I don't know how much this site is advertised but it has potential to be much better than what it appears to be now, at least for Oz. It looks like more overseas people are using the site and there's more activity to keep them interested in coming back here.

I guess when making a choice, people will spend their time where the greater numbers are.

I think this man had a pretty good idea of how we can live happily and cooperatively with one another.

I agree that eating and drinking with friends rather than alone is more fun.

Knowing that we are providing for what we need is comforting. Even better if our contribution is helping the community to thrive.

Spending time thinking about ourselves, how we relate, how we can make things better, all contribute to our own happiness and those around us.

Btw I loved Alain De Boton's series about philosophers and he has some good ideas about travelling as well.

Thanks for the suggestion AA. We're hoping to make this a regular gig and vary the meeting places between north and south. Some people are coming from the coast and thought that the Glen would be a good one to start with.

I had incredimail for a short time and didn't like it for the reasons mentioned. For several years I've used mozilla's thunderbird with my gmail and hotmail accounts. It's been a solid program and saves logging into webmail to read mail.

Just to let you good people know that a singles night has been arranged at the Glen Hotel in Eight Mile Plains, Corner of Logan Road and Gaskell St, on Saturday 25 Feb.

We're meeting on the back deck at 7pm.

On a Saturday nights they have a DJ from 9pm onwards playing top 40 and dance songs. Should be no cover charge and food prices are reasonable.


This has also been posted on the Oasis site and some from there have confirmed to come.

Hope to see some people from here as well!
