Perhaps out country has placed faith in its citizens to take care of themselves like ADULTS and not wait for someone else, or a government entity, to resolve life's many obstacles. Life, live it up.
I would think it is better to be alone than ignored. If you're alone it is possible that it is one's choice. To be ignored is an external situation placed upon someone, they are unable to gain social notoriety regardless of their hope for recognition.
