Why do people still believe in God?

If believing brings you joy then it is good. thumbs up

Why do people still believe in God?

thumbs up there definitely an intelligence behind everything else it would have been mostly chaos. But to reduce that to some supreme being who takes a personal interest in you as a microscopic spec in the universe is a bit too much for me to digest.

Why do people still believe in God?

Just find yourself...the part who you really are. All you think you are will end one day so don't take it too seriously. wine

Why do people still believe in God?

Yes Dragos but while I am not so evolved and enlightened as some I still enjoy stirring the pot just because I can. laugh

Why do people still believe in God?

Don't forget it is unconditional love. Read a horror story about a woman who claimed she went to hell and walked around there with Jesus at her side. She claimed she begged him to have mercy but even thought the tears were streaming down his face he told her it was too late for them. So much for a loving God. Burned the book as something like that should not be around to scar young children for life.

Why do people still believe in God?

I'll take my chances on that. If there is nothing but pain you become the pain so existence is also not possible.

Why do people still believe in God?

I know but the reward sounds pretty lame to me. If you float around in eternal bliss you can just as well not exist.

Why do people still believe in God?

Thanks but I have already found what I was looking for so my search is over. That is a part of me I don't want to discuss on the forums. Also don't really have words to explain or describe it.

Why do people still believe in God?

Mme La Maréchale: Are you not Monsieur Crudeli?
Crudeli: Yes, Madame.
Mme La Maréchale: Then you're the man who doesn't believe in anything.
Crudeli: In person, madame.
Mme La Maréchale: Yet your moral principles are the same as those of a believer?
Crudeli: Why should they not be -- as long as the believer is an honest man?
Mme La Maréchale: And do you act upon your principles?
Crudeli: To the best of my ability.
Mme La Maréchale: What? You don't steal? You don't kill people? You don't rob them?
Crudeli: Very rarely.
Mme La Maréchale: Then what do you gain by not being a believer?
Crudeli: Nothing at all, madame. Is one a believer from motives of profit?
-- Denis Diderot, "Conversation with a Christian Lady" (1774), trans. Derek Coltman, quoted from S T Joshi, ed, Atheism: A Reader, p. 229

That is one of religious peoples main arguments that there will be chaos without religion. What they don't realize is that it is the police and punishment that keep most people from stealing and murdering others not religion. People can be "good" without having a God telling them to, or rewarding them for that.

Why do people still believe in God?

Yes think it is in our genes...the want to believe in something greater than us. Does it need to be a God who is pretty much like a human with the power to do what he likes. Sounds a bit dangerous to me to have someone like that hovering over us. confused

Why do people still believe in God?

The God created by religion...thanks but won't ever want to do that.

Why do people still believe in God?

In the beginning when the world was still filled with scary unexplainable stuff people needed gods to blame or give the credit to. Pleasing the gods were the only way to try and control the world around them. Later on they saw they can use God for a lot of other things as well...like controlling people. They always had rules within the community but that was man made rules so they added God and eternal punishment to give more authority to it. To explain the evil amongst them they created Satan and then the fight began between Satan and God.

Now we know so much more...in fact enough to see that the world can go round without having gods to look after it. Even though the gods are redundant large groups of people don't want to let go of them. They must realize by now that the percentage of prayers being answered is very low, but they still keep on praying.

Is it just a crutch to the weak, a way to avoid taking responsibility for their actions, avoid facing reality or do they really believe God makes a difference in how things are?

Coming from a religious background and learning at an early age that the Christian God can't be trusted, I explored some other religions and their gods. My conclusion was if there are gods around they are not of much use. Maybe they are busy watching human sacrifices by primitive people on the latest planet they have created. Taking bets on who is going to become the supreme god of that planet.

I know I am more than just my body, my personality and my mind as I have the seed of life, that can't be destroyed, within me. When I die my body, personality and mind will rot and fade away. The spark of life will continue within some other living thing without any trace of me attached to it. My life is not empty and meaningless without a god or eternal life in heaven to look forward to. Life is filled with millions of opportunities waiting to be explored. So I live it as it comes along...sometimes reluctantly and sometimes with passion.

Bring me a god who is reliable, trustworthy, unconditionally loving, fair, available when needed and can manifest himself in a clear way so we need not doubt his existence. Then and only then will I believe again.

Introvert versus Extrovert

I must go to bed now. Thanks for the rolling on the floor laughing Enjoy the rest of the evening. wave

Introvert versus Extrovert

rolling on the floor laughing Think I have one but the tart will be mouldy by the time I find it.

Introvert versus Extrovert

rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing thanks now I can relax again.

Introvert versus Extrovert

I need some time to think about this....so many tarts to choose from confused

Introvert versus Extrovert

What kind of tart? Don't like jam tarts much. laugh

Introvert versus Extrovert

Saying...hello girl with the beautiful eyes. Bye bye introvert. laugh

Introvert versus Extrovert

The way I said it is a bit confusing. Will try again. Introverts move a lot slower when it come to relationships. That can give the impression that you are not over enthusiastic about the man. So the over enthusiastic girl comes along and before you know it you are out of the picture. Have seen that many times within singles clubs and other social gatherings.

Introvert versus Extrovert

That is true. That kind of small talk I also indulge in but this whole ceremony of good day, how are you, weather is good today, bla, bla, bla without getting anywhere is not for me.

Introvert versus Extrovert

Think introverts have a harder time when it comes to dating. While they are busy figuring out the potential date and how they feel about him/her, an extrovert comes along and grab the one they considered having potential. sigh

Introvert versus Extrovert

Mauss that was worth listening to...thanks

Introvert versus Extrovert

Main characteristics of an Introvert.
1.They don’t talk unless they have something to say. They hate small talk. If you can get an Introvert talking about something they are interested in and they will talk for hours.
2.They appear shy but they are not necessarily afraid of people. What they need is a reason to interact. They don’t interact for the sake of interacting. They can handle one on one interaction much easier than having to interact in large groups
3.They may seem rude at times as they don’t see a reason for beating around the bush with social pleasantries. They want everyone to be just real and honest. Unfortunately this is not acceptable in most setting, so Introverts can feel a lot of pressure to fit in, which they find exhausting.
4.They don’t have many real friends. They intensely value the few friends they have. They can count their close friends on one hand. Once you have earned their respect as being a person of substance you will probably have a loyal ally for life.
5.They don’t like to go out in public often and for too long. They also like to avoid the complications that are involved in public activities. They take in data and experiences very quickly and as a result, don’t need to be there for long to “get it”. They are ready to go home, recharge and process it all. In fact, recharging is absolutely crucial for Introverts.
6.They are perfectly comfortable with their own thoughts. They think a lot and sometimes daydream a lot. They like to have problems to work on, puzzles to solve and being creative. They can get lonely if they have no one to share their discoveries with. They crave on authentic and sincere connection with ONE person at a time.
7.They are often individualists. They don’t follow the crowd. They’d prefer to be valued for their novel ways of living. They think for themselves and because of that they often challenge the norm. They don’t make decisions based on what is popular or trendy.
8.They are people who primarily look inward, paying close attention to their thoughts and emotions. It is not that they are incapable of paying attention to what is going on around them. It’s just that their inner world is much more stimulating and rewarding to them.
9.They typically relax at home or in nature, not in busy public places. They are not thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies. If there is too much talking and noise going on, they shut down. Their brains are too sensitive to the neurotransmitter called Dopamine. Introverts and Extroverts have different dominant neuro-pathways.
10.They can’t fix themselves and become Extroverts. It can be terribly destructive for Introverts to deny themselves in order to get along in an Extrovert-dominant world. They can end up hating themselves and others because of the differences. They need to learn to accept, love and respect themselves for who they are.

Introvert versus Extrovert

Have to go to town...30km from here...to get to the bank so have to get a move on else my bills are not going to get paid. Will be back later in the afternoon. wave

Introvert versus Extrovert

Introverts are often misjudged and rejected just because it takes time for them to feel comfortable enough to open up to other people. That is how I see it and was trying to determine if it is true by this thread.

I think I have copy and paste that information to a file so will have a look and post it on here. I am a bad one for keeping track of websites.

RE: Has This Happen to u and opinion why anyone?

Be thankful as the one who scammed me had the nerve to try and get more money out of me after the free holiday I gave him. I had to do the disappearing trick to get rid of him. very mad

RE: Has This Happen to u and opinion why anyone?

You have made me seen the light. Now I know why they do that to me. Maybe I must copy paste some scam mail as they seem to know all the lovely words to win someones heart....rolling on the floor laughing

Introvert versus Extrovert

I was like that as a child so can relate to that.

Introvert versus Extrovert

Good point you made about forumites being more likely to be introverts. Never though about that. This is the perfect medium for introverts to socialize.

Shyness is one of the labels introverts get and it is so wrong as they can talk any ones ears off when it is a subject they are interested in.

Got a 10 point description of an introvert on the interwebs and have to admit I got 10/10. Yet no one who knows me will ever guess that as I am not so trapped inside myself that I cannot participate fully in the world and people around me.....as long as I need not get out too often. laugh

Introvert versus Extrovert

laugh is it that bad? laugh Have met a couple of people like that and agree. A total introverts giving you a one word answer when you try to talk to them is a bit too much for me as well.
