If it wasn't serious and someone was trying to spare my feelings, I am sure I can see it from their point of view and that they were acting in my best interests. If the lie was designed to be hurtful or they are a compulsive liar.... I would ditch them!!

You know exactly where you stand with a gambler, adulterer, a drunk, thief... but you never know where you are up to wih a liar!! Get rid..!!

You have made valid point, yes, if that is the case then I would agree with your second paragraph to an extent. But we have not yet established that there is "futility" in it, have we?

And let's face it, there are those who get "wacked out" on CS simply because someone else does not hold their exact viewpoint.... What is that all about? Perspective??

In the grander scheme of things, I would rather "get wacked out" about the former than the latter... thank you!

"Most of us have been hurt in one way or another in our past relationships.. (if we can REMEMBER that far back.. arrghh!) We dont need to be here for MORE hurt feelings. That may be so in some cases but does that stop one from being courteous with one another?

There may be a mindset "well, I don't know that person, so I don't have to be civil to them..." but here's also "I don't know that person but that doesn't mean I can't be kind to them"?? Its a choice, pure and simple... A person CHOOSES to be like that!

All these people I have only shown kindness and support to....
Quite honestly, I am sick of it and they don't deserve friendships! So far, it seems to have only been people from the US.... is it an Amercian thing or something?? I have't experienced it before so I'm sure it can't be!

Anyway... its what they CHOOSE... so I'll leave them to wallow in their own self-pity!!

BTW, love..... you look great in that colour, wish I could wear it!!

When is education fear? But there are those that fear education! I am not qualified enough to know whether Al Gore should be in the running but I do know that anyone who has been committed and dedicated to such issues as he (and I don't care if it was Mickey Mouse!) fully deserves the accolade and recognition, yes!

I have not purported to surmise anything about your President's character.... I was simply talking about the green/environmental issues as I saw being discussed, nothing more than that. As for "right over my head"... please don't condescend to me... I have a greater understanding of things than you clearly give me credit for.

My opinions on Amercian politics in a domestic sense may be limited, yes, but I do have an understanding of the issues that affect us globally......

You mention my views on other American policies.... again, I cannot comment on the domestic policies but I find you have agreed with me on some of the more extensive issues??

As for the purpose of this thread? Well... please explain that to me, I am truly interested to understand.....

Please refer back to my post on the "If you were president...." thread? The reason I mentioned this issue, apart from me feeling passionately about such things, is that your current president is totally dismissive, if not obstructive (and, in fact, a liability) about such affairs....
