If it wasn't serious and someone was trying to spare my feelings, I am sure I can see it from their point of view and that they were acting in my best interests. If the lie was designed to be hurtful or they are a compulsive liar.... I would ditch them!!

Knew a couple some years back. I really liked them, but caught them in so many lies. But because my (now deceased) wife treasured their friendship so much, I never confronted them. I don't even know if they knew how rediculess their lies sounded.
I'm not even sure they knew they were lying and maybe even began believing their own lies. Other than that, they were good people.
But when a partner lies to you, it's a whole different ballgame. But brutal honesty can be just as painful

Once I find out that someone is a compulsive liar. I cut them out of my life. Whether it be a partner or friends either male/female.

Yep, because they are lying either to "pull the wool over someones eyes" in some way, or they are lying because they are compulsive liars and they just cover up 1 lie with another one and it all usually ends in tears. Either way you can't win with a liar at all. Plus, once someone has lied to you, you can never fully trust them again ever.
