RE: Accept The American Way, Or Face The Consequences!

Polarization of the federal government is not what this country needs right now. Aside of his increasing the stock for seasoned presidential cigars, we have a proven statesman in the form of Bill Clinton. Regardless of how you feel politically about him, his was the only administration to give back to the American people... that is more than you can say definatively of any high office politician alive today. He was respected in the world, and what do you know, would be an instant advisor to the Hillary Clinton administration. This is not a time to experiment with newcomers in the White House. For the first time since Roosevelt we have a chance to bring back someone who we know is loyal to the needs and concerns of this country.....

RE: Accept The American Way, Or Face The Consequences!

Is there a possibility of a next superpower?....Nuclear weapons, dwindling natural resources...... America came to power after a huge worldwide engagement, could there be another? or, would we just all fight each other fairly over the remaining planetary resources, that is while we are fighting and using them up more rapidly, all the while being civil to each other by not anialating one another with the use of nuclear weapons. It all seems logical to me.

RE: Accept The American Way, Or Face The Consequences!

A nuisance just like removing confederate script that was wallpapered to the walls in homes in post civil war America. Currency is valued by its confidence, to replace the Dollar with the Euro could have huge worldwide implications, and possibly even higher prices for goods and services than you are already paying.

That would be like throwing a drowning man an anchorlaugh

RE: Accept The American Way, Or Face The Consequences!

And what about the nuclear weapons in the UK, Russia, China, N. Korea, India, Pakistan and whoever else has them? Remember that the United States government is not necessarily representative of its populus. There is a long history of British folly as well, did anyone here want you to become a possession of Germany in world war two? Unilateral nuclear disarmement of the world may be our only salvation as a species.... have any ideas on making sure they are all destroyed?

RE: Accept The American Way, Or Face The Consequences!

I think what the author was implying is that the issues that are facing the world affect everyone, not that there is entity in charge sort of speak. I think he meant that collectively we all share a respondsibility to each other. As far as being respondsible to oneself, theres alot of that going around, and also caring for only oneself for that matter. Hopefully you wont need someones help while stuck along a roadway, where the collectivism of good conscience could possibly come to your aid. Everyone's understanding that they belong to oneself is a given, in global issues affecting everyone, borders are invisible, so don't worry about becoming a one government society, and tonight go back to your sugarplums.

RE: Clinton for President

This country is in a position that cannot afford on the job training....time is of the essence my friend....and as far as all your other opinions regarding this womans motives, and or objectives, they are all hearsay.
If you have bashing to do, back it up with facts, not your slanted opinions.......

RE: What were you doing at my AGe????

I was traveling Europe with a backpack.....Greece first....the islands.
Then the mainland....France. Switzerland, Italy, Austria......etc.
Went to Montreaux Jazz Festival..... got a job wallpapering apartments in the north of Paris....then went to the Loire River Valley to work the wine harvest. All the while I had a magical romance with a French girl, writing letters, and meeting up in differant cities around Europe. The time went by slowly being on the road, but it changed my whole life....I met a score of great people whom I will never forget. I've lost track of all of them now... but who knows, maybe some day.......

RE: beggars......

Hi.....I'm new at this, and I am normally silent, but this is a topic which I have to address.
For what it is worth, in the Phoenix area in which I live, the warm climate is such that we have countless individuals who beg for money all the time. In so much as I have empathy for anyones plight, I find that these individuals in general are not interested in doing anything at all to help themselves.
My premise for this is such that I own a cleaning company. I have offered to put so many individual to work doing all types of jobs for cash money, and constantly being rejected, that I have lost count.
In keeping with the empathy that I feel for this situation, my mind shifts. Instead of "seeing" the homeless peoples situations as my focus, and my desire to help, I begin to think of the people and businesses who have to be concerned for the resulting degradation of the neighborhoods and designated business areas affected. In "fueling" the success these people have in these areas by donating money to their causes, a perpetuation of an intolerable situation for the nearby residents is accomplished. Usually this "fueling" is by persons who don't live in the areas affected. How would you like to have a young girl coming home from school through a neighborhood of persons who live in the bushes or sides of the road...A neighborhood has a right to be free and clean of these types of hazards, but cannot rid itself of the dangers with constant outside interference.
The governments that be need to be more compassionate to the plights of these persons with adequate programs, and hopefully resulting supervision....It is not right to give empathy to those who would otherwise find some other way to feed themselves, and give no thought whatsoever to the hard working people who deserve better in the neighborhoods in which they live.
Incidently, I once gave a guy $100.00, while I was out on a date as well, he begged me for money, and I refused. As he walked away, I saw him walking very badly. When I inquired as to why he was walking the way he was, he pulled up his pant leg, and revealed the most heinous injury I had ever seen to his leg and ankle....there went the $100.00, and I was glad to do it, and would do it again in an instant....
