One more point - DO NOT automatically assume that any thread regarding immigration is about MEXICO, because you have a tendency to do that I know. This is not about the USA borders or British borders or Indian borders; it is a simple conversation about stopping immigration into countries for a while. If you came from a country that was not one of the biggest for sending illegal immigrants over borders, I am sure you would not have been so patronizing.
Thank you for your very patronizing reply, life. The thread was about IMMIGRATION, nothing else. If the subject of trading boundaries was brought into the subject, fine, but dont quote me on it, or insult my intelligences by inferring I am not a "better informed-educated proposition maker". That is an extremely patronizing comment. Go ahead, adulterate the thread by bringing in trade issues if you wish, but DO NOT insult me or my thread subject.
Children are not born with prejudiced attitudes or with stereotypes. They learn values and beliefs from their family, peers, teachers, the media, and others around them. In other words, children learn prejudice through socialization.
A. There are many changes going on right now in the USA regarding receipt of unemployment benefit, and the extended benefits received thus far are disappearing. There is also new legislation coming in right now forcing people to accept ANY job offered to them by the Labor Department. Things are tightening up here. This is one factor that will force some of the lazies to start looking for whatever they can get.
B. Yes, I agree on the amount of taxes being paid by illegals, and it is the EMPLOYERS who benefit the most from them. The answer is to penalise the employers much more stringently, CUT OFF the supply of illegal immigrants who are willing to work for whatever they can get and consequently FORCE employers to start looking inwards. Supply and demand.....
Yep, and this policy has sure bitten the EU in the butt! Although I do not necessarily agree that movement around Europe is unfettered, it does appear that more nationalities are moving around and this is the reason why countries like Ireland have no clue how many immigrants live there. Border controls are terribly lax, and so much coastline to cover.
In my opinion, this is by far the best and most truthful answer to the OP.
Why people always have to turn these threads into men -v- women type affairs, I have no idea! Its not about who is better, who is stronger or who is more emotional! Its about REAL LIFE! Not something you read out of a life manual or learn on a psyc course.
I agree with Singleisious because sometimes, the "Dumper" doesnt want to dump but sees no choice. Sometimes the "Dumpee" is the one who breaths a sigh of relief.
Thank you for your post, Diz, and nice to meet you.
I remember when South Africa was a desirable place to emmigrate to, especially the Cape Area. Such a beautiful country..
I totally agree with your point about controlled immigration; immigration per se is good; however, it has to be reined in severely and brought back to the way it used to be. Skilled and "In Demand" occupations only. At least for a while.
Oh yes, capitalism has the largest number of head honchos; without them capitalism would die out. My point was that even in a Communist Utopia, there is always one who wants more...
I believe many of the world's countries need to take a step back from money-making and look inwards. I am not an idealist, but I certainly believe that now is the time to get our individual houses in order to make for a more stable and happy world.
I am unsure as to whom "you people" are, but I assume you are referring to Americans, as I am the OP.
My location is irrelevant; my thread topic is a worldwide issue and is not directed toward one country alone.
I take it Turkey is in fine form, then? You know, plenty of jobs, economy flourishing etc.... ?? Apparently so, since you cite no problems in your own country..Maybe we should all come and live with you?
That's exactly what the European Union promised at its inception. Made no difference at all to ease of travel or free markets. And simply gave France and Germany the excuse they had been waiting for to attempt to put a stranglehold on the whole of Europe.
The planet is in a mess. The Global Economy is in a state of near-collapse. Unemployment is rising and people are struggling to make ends meet.
The transcontinental idea of the EU has failed; countries fight amongst themselves and cross-country travel is not as easy as was promised. In the USA illegal immigration is on the rise. And even China's recent rapid growth is slowing, according to The International Business Times.
The idea of closing international borders against immigration for a period of time is being muttered around the world, primarily with the intention of slowing illegal entries, strengthening domestic economies and infrastructures and restoring national prides.
Do you think temporarily closing our borders to further immigration would help the situation? Or would it simply increase the level of xenophobia that already exists in the world?
Closing Borders
