So! You accept and believe that every word of the bible is true and God's word? You believe that the earth is flat and only 6000 years old?
The thread was about one particular event in John which does not appear in earlier gospels and is very different in style to the rest of the book a bit like a chapter of Harry Potter dropped into Alice in Wonderland.
Since you chose to mention the crucifixion, I wonder if you have ever read or compared, or even noticed, the discrepancies between them?
I am disappointed you and "a lot of people" don't ask for me to back up what I said. I suppose that you and "a lot of people" would also read and happily accept both accounts (if you knew who the authors were) of the birth of Christ even though only one could possibly be correct.
It's a nice little story and makes a valid point but it never happened. The whole thing is a forgery that was added to John several centuries after that gospel was written and even the most radical believers accept it as a later addition.
On the subject of nonsense..... No such fantasy as blankets infected with malaria. Malaria is transmitted by the anopheles mosquito. It may also be transmitted by blood transfusion which is unlikely as blood banks expect donors to be in health.
God, in all his many formats, was independently invented by chiefs and despots around the world as a way of controlling the ignorant, mindless and unthinking masses. Christianity and Islam are striking examples of their success.
The topic was derailed when people started discussing the colour of Syrians. All I did was to clarify the issue. Am happy to go further if you want to open another thread.
You have it 100% correct. Only Hungry and Poland have any idea of the danger posed by immigrants whose aim is to turn Europe into the same stone age wasteland as that from from which they fled.
Read the Article at WIKI,and all will become clear! It was clear when I made my first post. Try reading #78 for clarification of what should have been obvious at the beginning.
I read the bit that you quoted from Wiki. The key bit (which you missed) of my post referred to MOST Syrians, as well as other residents of North Africa who are totally different to the residents of sub-Saharan Africa in looks and thought. My expanding on those differences would be considered not politically correct by any head-in-sand lefties.
Same for me. I grew up in a remote valley on the edge of the old Nyasaland where there were savage storms in the rainy season. Lying in bed, under a mosquito net, hearing the rain hammering down on the tin roof while flashes lit up the room with the simultaneous crash of thunder gave a kid a sense of security.
Yes. I do doubt its authenticity. Who is Robinson Thompson? No Google search brings him up, even with additional key words. No other online platforms mention this and, despite Britain's terrible anti-freedom laws, I must conclude that this is fake news.
That's not surprising, considering that you are locked in a seventh century time warp.
All manufacturers like their products to be repaired by their agents because it generates business in spare parts or a new unit when agent does not want to repair it. Motor manufacturers are particularly bad here.
Many years ago I took a Toyota to the agent for a scheduled service during the warranty period and was contacted by the workshop manager who told me that my brake pads were worn with only 30% remaining. He told me what the additional cost would be and I told him not to replace the pads since I had not budgeted for that expense. After collecting the car I stopped at a spare parts shop and bought a set of Ferodo pads for a sixth of the price quoted by the workshop. I replaced them in less than an hour.
The microwave turntable should be simple to fix for a fraction of the cost of a new one and the advice in post #5 is sound. I bought a bottom of range microwave in 1990 and it still works perfectly.
I seldom use meds and have not a prescription for many years. I have Syndol & Imodium which are current stock. I also have Valoron (expired 1991) and Napamol (exp 2001) I disposed of my polyvalent antivenom when it expired and did not bother to replace it.
None of that. You asked a question that can be answered neither by science nor religion. The concept of god has been independently invented thousands of times, around the world, by various chiefs and despots who saw it as a way to control gullible followers; the system still works very well.
RE - Peasefull revelution is rare in Africa, where the whites used to govern.....when the whites were murderus towards blacks.
Just how murderous Rhodesian whites were towards blacks can be judged by the fact the the black population in 1900 of approximately 700 000 had increased to 6.8 million in 1979. Under Mugabe, there was a shortfall of some 3 million in population growth due to disease, malnutrition and violence.
Violence is an integral part of African culture and the writings of early missionaries, explorers & hunters describe it in graphic detail. Peaceful revolution (note spelling) never existed and Haiti, after 200 years of self rule, is no better than the Congo. The Australians are now learning that by painful experience.
The invasion, conquest and subjugation of Rhodesia by the Matabele (Zulu offshoots) under Mzilikazi in the first half of the 1800s was the culmination of a lifetime of atrocities. Mzilikazi exterminated 28 tribes prior to his invasion of Rhodesia. You might like to read the book, “Path of Blood” by Peter Becker to get a better idea of the culture.
The much vaunted liberation struggles were never about democracy or improving the lives of ordinary people but solely about power and loot. Each post colonial country in sub-Saharan Africa has become the personal fiefdom of whatever leader currently holds the position, Kabila being a prime example.
Averages can be slightly misleading. On average, you should feel ok with one foot in the freezer and the other in the fire!!!
I look back on a long and misspent life but I raised three stunningly successful kids on my own and would go there again in a heartbeat if I had the chance.

Since the beginning of recorded history, which is defined by the invention of writing in Sumeria around 6,000 years ago, historians have cataloged over 3700 supernatural beings, of which 2870 can be considered deities. So, next time someone tells me they believe in god, I'll say "Oh, which one? Zeus? Hades? Jupiter? Mars? Odin? Thor? Krishna? Vishnu? Ra? ...If they say “Just God. I only believe in the one God,” I’ll point out that they are nearly as atheistic as me. I don’t believe in 2,870 gods, and they don’t believe in 2,869.
I have to agree with you there. She has the same sense of entitlement as all the communists and young hooligans who riot and burn American cities at the slightest pretext.
