RE: NEED PLUMBERS ADVICE !!!

lol the problem with that is as you are flooding her out the water will eventually flood you out.

RE: NEED PLUMBERS ADVICE !!!

You should have a main water shutoff valve somewhere in the basement. This should kill all the water to the building. You turn that off when suspect a flood will minimize the impact. It will get others attention too if you have more than one neighbor in the building. Just before you do that get a couple of pales of water so you can flush your toilet if you have too.

RE: what do you like or dislike about the united kingdom ? where would you rather live ? and why ?

hi max47 !

whats costa rica like ? what language do they speak there ? ...is it the same as peurto rico ? where excactly is it ? and whats the cost of living like there ?

do they speak english there ?

Costa Rica is amazing , I had a wonderful time there and fell in love with the country and the culture and the people( the ladies are to die for). Spanish is the main language and its good to know If you venture off the beaten path in the remote areas alot of folks dont speak english, but I got by. It's in Central America above Panama below Nicaragua. The best coffee I every had also, the national drink is called Guado or cinco its a sugar cane type tequila, well they drink it like tequila anyways lol. The problem is if you venture in the rainforest you need malaria pills and a Hep. A shot as well. I had yellow fever shot too just to be safe . If you stay in the more touristy or populated areas you wont have a problem. I could sell everything I have and go down there and live like a king. The Monteverda cloud rainforest is like you went back in time to the age of the dinasour just incredible. Check out the site www visitcostarica.com. lots of info there. Although Belize is great too, Either place I hope to end up sooner than later.

RE: what do you like or dislike about the united kingdom ? where would you rather live ? and why ?

Never been to the Uk but my special lady friend(she is from England) who visited me here last year would probably make it as you say a "brilliant " holiday. I like tropical paradise, rainforests, the ocean and Costa Rica is where I want to retire or Belize that is a very close second.

RE: So who's for Pink Floyd?

Pink Floyd is awesome to be sure. Check out the DVD" Live at Pompeii" . The Box set called "Shine On".Before they where Pink Floyd they where called Sigma 6, then Tea Set, ,then the Megadeaths. They have 2 cd's that are from 1967 which has some great stuff, Obscured from Clouds has a very 60's sound to it. Stanley Krubrick wanted to use music from Atom Mother Heart in the movie A Clockwork Orange but Pink Floyd wouldnt allow it. The music and book that comes with this box set is great. However if you havent seen the DVD "Live at Pompeii" you are missing something awesome.

Mix together 1 and 1/2 tbsp. maple sugar,1 tbsp. dijon mustard, brush over top of fish.Place a 1/4 cup pecans in a bag and crush with a spoon. Stir pecans with 1/4 cup of dry Italian bread crumbs and 1 tbsp. melted butter,1 tsp. chopped fresh parsley. Pat this mixture on top of fillet. Tzatziki is best with stuffed vine leaves, or zucchini fritters(kolokithokefthes me tzatziki). My friend doesnt use the garlic(although I do) when making it she makes it with 3/4 cup plain yogurt,1 small cucumber grated ,1 clove garlic,crushed,2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice. I decided to rip out all the useless ornamental plants in my yard and grow tomatoes, peppers, zucchini and squash as well as other veggies instead.Having made all kinds of zucchini dishes this one is great with the Tzatziki sauce. 1 and 1/2 lbs grated zucchini,1 medium onion grated,1/2 cup plain flour,1 tbsp. fresh oregano,3 eggs beaten,1 tbsp. fresh basil,1 tbsp. fresh parsley, oil for shallow frying. Combine all ingredients in a bowl mix well, shallow fry about 1/4 cup of mixture in hot oil until slighlty brown underneath . flatten slightly. turn fritters over and cook through. Drain on paper towels. Serve fritters with tzatziki sauce. These are kinda like a zucchini pancakes but very yummy. If you ever decide to make stuffed vine leaves Tzatziki sauce is great to dip them in.wine

RE: Counter to (disgusting food Thread) whats your fave and dessert?

My Moms carrot pudding. She used to use a meatgrinder to grind up the potatoes, carrots and raisins. This is a good cold weather x-mas time dessert. Cream together 1 and 1/2 cups shortening and 2 cups of sugar. Then 2 cups ground raisins,2 cups ground potatos,2 cups ground carrots set aside. Mix 3 cups flour,2 tsp.baking soda ,1/2 tbsp. salt,4 tsp. cinnamon,1 tsp. nutmeg. Mix all ingredients well.then use tins or coffee cans and fill up only 2/3 full with mixture. Useing tins are good because if you have the lid then you can store the dessert easily. I use those friut cake tins . After I throw the fruit cake away lol. Then you want to steam them in the oven for about 2 hrs at 350 degrees. First set the containers in a large pyrex dish add boiling water to dish and carefully place into oven, keep an eye on the water level and add more if neccasary. when you put a knife in and it comes out clean its ready. The sauce that goes on top is yummy :cream 1/4 # butter,1/2 cup brown sugar,1 egg yolk, 2 tbsp. lemon juice, simmer and stir constantly till thick. fold in 1 beaten egg white and season with nutmeg and rum . Just add as much as you want.wine

The last year or so I have been into cooking Greek food This is one of my favorites and its easy to make. If you have favorite Greek recipes please post. Greek sausages in tomatoe sauce: Ingredients: 1 1/2 lbs . ground beef, 1 cup bread crumbs,1 medium onion chopped finely,2 tbsp. fresh thyme,2 tbsp. fresh oregano,1/2 tsp. ground cumin,1 egg lightly beaten,2 tbsp. olive oil,2 tbsp. chopped fresh mint. Combine all ingredients in bowl except the oil,mix well and roll into small sausage shapes. heat oil in pan and cook sausages in batches well browned. Drain on paper towels. Meanwhile make tomatoe sauce. Ingredients:2 tbsp. olive oil,1 medium onion, chopped finely,2 cloves garlic crushed,1/2 cup dry red wine,1 - 1lb. 12 oz can of whole tomatoes with sauce (buy the best ones you can) ,I slice them up in a bowl before I put them in the sauce.1/3 cup tomatoe paste, 1 cup chicken stock,2 tbsp. fresh oregano,2 tsp, sugar.pinch of ground cinnamon. Heat oil in sauce pan add onion and garlic. cook until soft, add wine and simmer unitl reduced by half, stir in tomatoes and remaining ingredients, season with salt and pepper to taste, Simmer for 10 minutes. Add sausages cover and simmer another 10 minutes.Sprinkle with mint before serving. I really like the way the wine and cinnamon, smell as the sauce cooks. Dont use too much cinnamon a use a very small amount and add more if you like

RE: the best sights in colorado

I drove from Vail to Aspen in the fall going by Leadville up to Independence Pass (I think thats whats its called)All along there is nice. Also an out of the way place up near Fort Collins is a place called Poudre Canyon. I was there almost 30 years ago not sure what its like now.

RE: the none god thread

I dont think its an interpretation issue of a particular religion that breeds violence. Its more of a non acceptance of anothers religion. Some believe that their religion should be the only religion. The way I see it when we love our children more than we hate each other ,then there will be peace.

West Indian Chicken

I make this alot its one of my favorites: Ingredients:2- 6oz. chicken breasts,6 medium shrimp diced,1/2 teaspoon curry powder,1/4 cup of onions,1/2 tsp. diced garlic, pinch of salt and pepper,1/2 cup shredded mozzarella, 2 tbsp.olive oil,1/2 cup flour. ( I usually use three chicken breasts and use more of the ingredients). Pound the chicken until very thin (It took me lots of practice to get this right) about 1/8 to 1/4 inch thin.Flour chicken and refrigerate until stuffing is made. Stuffing preperation: In saute pan add oil when hot add onion, garlic and cook until translucent.Add diced shrimp salt and pepper if you like and cook until shrimp turns whitish pink, a few minutes or so.Add curry powder and stir in then remove from heat.Put 1/2 the shrimp mixture in the center of the chicken and sprinkle half the cheese on top.Roll up chicken breast similiar to chicken Kiev. Brown the rolled chicken in saute pan turning to brown all sides( this is tricky becuase it tends to fall apart, use toothpicks or a small pan making sure the chicken has support on the sides I usually have one of the three kind of unroll.I put the seam side down first when browning carefully roll if it unwraps at the end its no big deal still tastes good).Preheat oven to 350 and place chicken in oven for 15 minutes. Meanwhile make the Appleton rum wild mushroom cream sauce that goes on top. Ingredients:1 large portabella mushroom cap diced into 1/4 to 1/2 inch pieces,1/2 cup diced onions,1/2 cup Appleton Gold rum (any rum will do).2 tbsp. olive oil,1 cup heavy cream, salt and pepper. heat up saute pan and add oil. saute until onions are soft add mushrooms and saute until soft.Degaze with the Rum (this is my favorite part and I havent set the house on fire yet).allow Rum to burn off,add heavy cream.let cream roll and reduce until sauce thickens.add salt and pepper if you like. Plave chicken on plate with rice pour sauce over top have steamed veggies on the sidewine
