Never been to the Uk but my special lady friend(she is from England) who visited me here last year would probably make it as you say a "brilliant " holiday. I like tropical paradise, rainforests, the ocean and Costa Rica is where I want to retire or Belize that is a very close second.

The best thing about where i live is walking distant to my job. The worst thing is its can be rather noisy due to people and traffic. I would rather live in the country

do they speak english there ?
Costa Rica is amazing , I had a wonderful time there and fell in love with the country and the culture and the people( the ladies are to die for). Spanish is the main language and its good to know If you venture off the beaten path in the remote areas alot of folks dont speak english, but I got by. It's in Central America above Panama below Nicaragua. The best coffee I every had also, the national drink is called Guado or cinco its a sugar cane type tequila, well they drink it like tequila anyways lol. The problem is if you venture in the rainforest you need malaria pills and a Hep. A shot as well. I had yellow fever shot too just to be safe . If you stay in the more touristy or populated areas you wont have a problem. I could sell everything I have and go down there and live like a king. The Monteverda cloud rainforest is like you went back in time to the age of the dinasour just incredible. Check out the site www visitcostarica.com. lots of info there. Although Belize is great too, Either place I hope to end up sooner than later.

What about the pennines, those mountains are called the backbone of england and run the full length of the country.
I lived in manchester for 13 years, and although it's a nice city in many ways, it was like living in coronation street full time. A bit much for me. I used to like the lake district though. Great place to go camping. I walked from Oxford to Glouscester once a long time ago. It was 40 miles and I did it in two days across country. The scenery was stunning and it was an old pilgrims path. The little villages were like something out of victorian times. London is also very nice if you like cities but I found it very expensive, but if it is pomp and circumstance you are after you will love it.

I like the UK. I know the West Midlands and the Bristol/Cardiff area quite well. London is my favourite place of all time - the only thing I hate is the rain. Will it ever stop?
