I am sorry Owen you are having a rough time. Lots of people out there without money for Christmas this year. Is your daughter close? Maybe you could invite her over and make a day of it? Rent some of those old movies and watch them with her? Or maybe I should not give advice and let you get past your blues. Sorry lol.
I am not in the spirit yet but I plan on getting there. It will happen Owen because it's not about the material things but about focusing on those we love and just having a fun time with them. Enjoying decorating the tree with the little ones unless they are too small and watching how they place the Christmas ornaments on the tree. Making cookies with way too much frosting and sprinkles. The Christmas Lights twinkling in the window brightening up the night. Songs that have been passed down for many years that we all know Those are the fun things the little parts of Christmas that bring the kid out in us.
I was just having fun with everyone. Was the first thread I have ever posted as a question so was not sure of it at the time.
As I get older I know less also and for me I wish that I had my faith in a Creator back. It's cool I am glad for the input helps me learn and that there are people out there struggling with this as I am.
It's cool Vinney I can relate where you come from the fear that you refer to can also be synonymous with respect or awe of a possible creator on a very personal rather than cultural basis.

I am sure you are making a legacy with your family right now as it is Owen just by being the loving woman that you are. It's easy to tell where your heart is.
I would take that dang money and give part of it away. Set someone up to go to college make sure my loved ones were cared for, because really who would care about material things? You would want to provide a future for someone else. Leave a legacy.

How about get in your own private jet and have breakfast lunch and dinner in different locations around the globe. I know I will go visit fellow CS'er's. That would be fun and the date will just have to come along for the ride. How about fill their apt full of balloons I mean to the point that they are laughing put sayings inside the balloon. Something mushy. Take them blindfolded someplace for dinner. go to Venice for a Gondola ride. Saudi Arabia and get bit by the camels. etc.
