Are people afraid to question their own ability to be wrong? Perhaps one needs to look at things from a different perspective from time to time.
Labels will always exist in some form or other as it is a way to identity, same as putting people in categories to make a comparison.
When it comes to people’s health no one likes to feel inferior, they would rather identify and try to make things better. It’s all about finding the right resources to assist you. And that can take time. One help group to the other can be very different. Like finding the right drug to assist you if you suffer from depression.
Branching out to another branch to the point where the actual perspective is totally lost and becomes not a discussion or decent debate but a battle knowledge and superiority, and I do not have time for that.
I’d rather share knowledge without belittling anyone or making them feel they are being picked on and over criticising them. When I share knowledge it sure ain’t like what I see going on here. And it ain’t all fluffy either.
These people seem to get some sort of sick pleasure out of how they carry on. Denying everything and the worst to me and a few others was when the person said sorry knowing full well it was not meant in anyway whatsoever. That in itself could wind others up causing them to react leaving them totally at the mercy of the gaslighter. These types are outright bullies.
When we had discussions about mental health she reported people after the sessions. Out of the blue people were questioning their own sanity.
Sometimes the change really does help to move away from these shuddering experiences. It’s not running away, absolutely not. As you say, your mental health is worth more. I hope everything works out for you.
Gaslighting is prominent in the work place, and I have first hand experience of this. It got ugly because this particular person used all these mind boggling techniques to destabilise people. This said person would then report others to HR and spread gossip amongst others.
When it came down to the crunch, this said person lied and lied that staff had misinterpreted what she said and meant. It was truly shocking. So if anyone has been subject to this kind of behaviour I understand it only too well.
