Sorry Barren , The story was told in humor and reflects disappointments many have encountered with false overseas relationships. It was meant to be humorous .
It was also meant to warn those or the author that people often aren't who they pretend to be, or their motives are hidden.
The internet is a breeding gorund for people who prey on innocent and unsuspecting lonely souls looking for their match.

I really like your idea of going straight to the web-cam and voice connection to eliminate alot of doubt.
