Ah there's no story! haha I haven't accosted Phusion to be my man meat or anything. Dangit! Just a friendly chat to drag him back here to entertain me!
Well I do agree that some of the flirting threads when it gets down to two people and I am guilty of this, are incredibly exclusionary. But I have often seen threads with 5 or 6 people, playing tit for tat flirting away, having a laugh and I don't see that as at all exclusionary or unwelcoming. In fact I think it's a great sign for a newbie to come in and see there is some flirty banter going on. But I too have seen cliquey threads, a lot I'm not even going to lie and anyone that doesn't know the person involved would feel strange to post a comment. I mean I am MAD to meet everyone from here but I really don't condone hypocritical criticism. Jeez, saying that was like saying bread toast! But you get what I mean. I mean if this is by definition a discussion forum, by those that coin the Open Discussion phrase, and then go on to create threads that only a few who were involved have any idea what they're about? Oxymoron. I'm a live and let live kinda gal. I don't really mind what anyone does, but I do think it's unfair to criticise when someone is guilty of exclusionary behaviour themselves. JMO
Well I mean that I understand that flirting can be seen as exclusionary but there are other exclusionary/cliquey threads that are never criticised. I'm all for friends and flirting. I am purely here for friendship and flirting, I don't knock either. I'm just making a comparison and want to see if anyone agrees.
Connecting Singles........ Generally I would view an online dating site to be a place where people are looking to find someone to date or to be looking for friendship with a possible view to dating. Also, I know there are Meets where everyone interacts and many different kind of friendships are forged. With the posting of Anti-Word Association Thread and an Anti Flirting Thread my mind has been pondering the behind the scenes mechanics of those that use the IE Forums and those that attend the meets and certain trends I have observed. ( I am FOR flirting on threads and I am not against Word Association threads, I just don't know how people keep up with 8 of them going at once! ) In saying that the flirting should be saved for private e-mail should the banter about the meets, what went on or didn't, jostling about who kissed who, when certain members meet up for a coffee/lunch/whatever be saved for private mails also? My view would be those that view the forums as purely existing for open discussion (most subjective word ever), posting topics that ALL members can discuss, disagree with flirting threads on the basis they are exclusionary (even though more than two people are often flirting on one thread)..... Should they not save the after meet banter for private mail? As they too could be interpreted as exclusionary and cliquey? I mean surely what's good for the goose is good for the gander.
I will make it very clear that after the Cork meet I will talk about it to death! haha And I will never stop flirting. I just am interested to see how people react to such a comparison.
That is a very valid point. In saying that though, late at night when it gets quiet and there's just a few of us on having the banter it nearly always turns into a flirting thread. I have been involved in loads but I have also observed plenty! I don't mind either way, I go with the aul flow.
Never been in there while music is on. Always for matches! Always lovely yummy boys in there and the lovely yummy girls go to see them! Good night assured me be reckoning.
Haha! Well this is true! But the primary aim of connecting singles, shockingly enough is to connect singles. Case of getting what you asked for I reckon!
Well Low and behold, here was me thinking this was a dating site and that flirting was not only assured but encouraged! I'm not tired of it at all, in fact, I say bring it.
I use private mail more-often than I post. What's posted on the threads is very tame IMO.
Good! Sure if anyone fancies it around closing time, we can head onto a club although I'm more of a late bar kinda gal. Old Oak is a lovely, clean no trouble bar. Always lovely warm atmosphere in there!
Ah Aims you're an absolute darling girl! And cheers, the accomodation thing was a factor! So ya never know! Last time I drank on anti biotics, I was totally ossified after 2 pints!
I know I should! I'm useless! I'm grand aside from chest infection. Can't smoke so am kind of on edge! Cork is a long way alright, as is Dub! God knows if I'm ever able to make one I will for sure!
You gotta man! Pwetty please? Dying for a good ole messfest! =) Thank Frig for LBA organizing a decent meet, all the others were apparently failures. Delighted to see so many having interest!
OMG! I'll be like the only Meet Virgin from the Forums attending the Cork meet! Ye Bastids! Hope ye've a ball. If there's any way I can wing it, I'll try and make the Wex meet but tis doubtful! So jealous!
When I was younger, I used to have a slight problem with jealousy. But it was totally down to my own insecurity, not really anything to do with who I was seeing. Now, I have actually surprised myself by how much I have changed in the past two years. I really, am not at all jealous. Now obviously if I were out with the object of my affection and someone made a blatant pass for them, it would sting a lil but irrational jealousy is childish, and only upsets the person who has a dose of the green eyed monster. I would like who I am with to be protective of me, but not overly so and definitely not jealous.
