Yet another thing in Wait Awhile (WA) that has not totally disappeared yet.. We still have a Drive In ..but its not in Perth...its 3 hours away in the popular holiday town of Bussleton.
I last went a few years ago ..and it did bring all the memories flooding back...
I cant help thinking about my own Dad (Who died young) when I listen to Eric Claptons "My Fathers Eyes"... its a very powerful song for me. It reminds me of my childhood.. until my early teens...
And then from about 13 onwards.. it was definitely..
I Touch Myself.. Divinyls
And then I discovered Women and Alcohol... it was
The nips are getting bigger - Mental as Anything Will you miss me when your sober - Debbie Conway I like to have a beer with Duncan (or Anyone!!) - Slim Dusty
Then I joined up the RAN ...
In the Navy - Village People
Then Marriage...
I never loved you anyway - The Corrs Its all over now Baby Blue - Marianne Faithfull
thanks for sticking up for me... but I am big enough and ugly enough to take it... I can give it pretty good too... just easing my way in.. I will give it a few weeks before you think I am an opinonated (_*_)
I had my first heartbreak at a school disco too... I remember it like yesterday.. The Mark Wood Roadshow (Adelaide local guy) and her name was #$%$^ and she dumped me to The Angels song "Am I ever gonna see your face again" .. and before you say the rest... I was 14 and did not know that chorus yet.. nor did she...
And I agree about the Polly Waffle... I was in Adelaide over XMAS and spotted one in a small deli.. and did the same.. munched and thought wow!!! Memories...
I have not seen a Polly Waffle in Perth... but then again WA stands for Wait Awhile ... I mean really.. we dont even have 24 supermarkets yet...
Yes, on most vessels (I work at Sea) we have satellite based email and in some it extends to Satellite based Internet and if we are working close to the coast we have mobile phone contact too..
It really is up in the air though...as vessels are mobile objects and we cant always guarantee contact.. sometimes the satellites are unable to be "seen" by the ship due to the course being steered etc... It can be hit and miss but this would rarely be for more than a day or two...
I am taking the plunge as advised by a wise woman I recently met here on CS and having a go in the Forums.
I am a little nervous, from what I have read and seen so far it is more like the Colloseum than the Forum.
Now to start ... I work in the Offshore oil and gas industry and fly in fly out (FIFO) on a 4 week (or 5 week) on and off roster. I find it frustrating when I make this known clearly on my profile (here on CS and one other I'net Dating Site) that I am in this situation then meet up with people, and in two cases now, hook up, start dating and then get told things like "Why do you have to go away all the time?" "I dont like you going away!"
What is going on??
What do YOU think?
Would you prefer a man who works FIFO and has 4 or 5 weeks at home in a block and equal time away?... or
A man who works a 9-5 and is home everynight and weekends?
Now before you answer.. the difference being, in my line of work there are few if any "day" jobs and those that do exist pay considerably less. So the financial loss to ME is not worth the luxury of all that time at home.
