The Australian Wheat Board enquiry is winding up and it seems that the executive of the Wheat Board knew they were paying bribes to Saddam Heussien to sell wheat to Iraq. If you have ever asked yourself how despots can afford to buy guns and ammunition but cannot afford to feed their people this should answer the question.
Do you think the Australian Wheat Board Executives should be gaoled for treason due to the fact they were supplying a foreign power with the funds to carry out war against Australian soldiers and Australia's allies?
Its a bit off subject but I have just read a book written by Tom Clancy, Tony Koltz and retired Marine General Tony Zinni. Its called "Battle Ready" and despite the catchy "buy me" title its not all about "Battle".
Tony Zinni was one of your most forward thinking soldiers. The book is about his life as a Marine from Vietnam to peace making in Iraq. The copy I read was published by Pan in 2005 but it was first published in 2004 by G. P. Putman'm Sons in The USA and Sidgwick and Jackson in Great Britain.
It is a GREAT read for people interested in current affairs and modern history. Tony Zinni comes over sometimes as a little niave but I think he tried to relate his life and the USA's engagement or not in World affairs in an honest and forthright style.

Why would the NRL selectors load the Australian Test Team with Broncos? After all it was the Melbourne Storm that played consistently well all season. The Brisbane Broncos didn't look like they were going to make it into a final eight. Wayne Bennett did a great job lifting the Brissy Team to get them up in the finals ... but I would have thought the skill and dedication by Melbourne players would be needed in the International Tests.

The Brisbane Broncos with 17 Queenslanders or Melbourne Storm with 9 Queenslanders, one Northern Rivers NSW (will be in Queensland when Premier Beattie annexes the district as Far South Gold Coast next year, or the rest who are various Polynesians on loan from New Zealand ....
